HomeMy WebLinkAboutG57-17 AN ORDINANCE Ordinance No. G57-17 AMENDING THE CITY OF ELGIN'S FEES FOR EMERGENCY AMBULANCE SERVICES AND PREHOSPITAL CARE PROVIDED BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WHEREAS, the City of Elgin is a home rule unit pursuant to Article 7, Section 6 of the Illinois Constitution; and WHEREAS, as a home rule unit the City of Elgin may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs including,but not limited to,the power to regulate for the protection of the public health, safety, morals and welfare; and WHEREAS, the City of Elgin has previously adopted a fee schedule for emergency ambulance services and prehospital care services provided by the First Department to be charged to the person receiving such services; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Elgin has determined it is necessary and desirable to amend and increase such fees: and WHEREAS, fees for emergency ambulance services and prehospital care provided by the Fire Department of the City pertain to the government and affairs of the City. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS: Section 1. That Section 2.40.260 of the Elgin Municipal Code, 1976,as amended,entitled "Fees for Services" be and is hereby further amended to read as follows: "2.40.260: FEES FOR SERVICE: Fees for emergency ambulance services and prehospital care provided by the fire department of the city shall be charged to the person receiving such services, or the person's estate, in accordance with the following schedule: Basic life support emergency (BLS) $1,850.00 Advanced life support emergency (ALS-1) $1,850.00 Advanced life support emergency(ALS-2) $1,850.00 Mileage (as measured from the location $15.00 per mile or of the ambulance call to the hospital) portion thereof" Section 2. That Section 2.40.270 of the Elgin Municipal Code, 1976, as amended, entitled "Fee; Outside of Corporate Limits" be and is hereby repealed. Section 3. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance be and are hereby repealed to the extent of any such conflict. Section 4. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect on and after January 1, 2018, upon its passage and publication in the manner provided b law. David J.
