AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING CHAPTER 6 . 06 OF THE ELGIN MUNICIPAL CODE, 1976
AS AMENDED, ENTITLED "ALCOHOLIC LIQUOR DEALERS"
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN,
ILLINOIS :
Section 1 . That Chapter 6 . 06 of the Elgin Municipal Code,
1976, as amended, entitled "Alcoholic Liquor Dealers, " be and is
hereby amended by amending Section 6 . 06 . 140 , entitled, "Offenses
By Licensee" to add the following new subsection to read as
follows :
"S . A licensee renting, leasing or otherwise
permitting the licensed premises to be used for a
private function, including, but not limited to,
banquets, dinners for weddings or other special
occasions, periodic meetings of service organizations
and political fundraising events shall require any such
private party to be prearranged under the sponsorship
of a particular person or organization. Private parties
on any licensed premises shall not be open to the
eft general public except by appointment or special
invitation. No admission charge shall be levied to
guests at such private functions except for bona fide
political fundraising events or bona fide charitable
fundraising events sponsored by a not-for-profit
corporation registered and in good standing with the
state . "
Section 2 . That Chapter 6 . 06 of the Elgin Municipal Code,
1976, as amended, entitled "Alcoholic Liquor Dealers, " be and is
hereby amended by amending Section 6 . 06 . 150 , entitled, "Offenses
By Other Than Licensee" to add the following new subsection to
read as follows :
"J. It is unlawful for any person renting,
leasing or otherwise utilizing any premises licensed
under the provisions of this chapter for a private
function, including, but not limited to, banquets,
dinners for weddings or other special occasions,
periodic meetings of service organizations and
political fundraising events, to permit any person to
attend said private function except by appointment or
special invitation, or to levy an admission charge to
guests at such private functions except for bona fide
political fundraising events or bona fide charitable
fundraising events sponsored by a not-for-profit
corporation registered and in good standing with the
state . "
Section 3 . That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict with the provisions of this ordinance be and are hereby
repealed.
Section 4 . That this ordinance shall be in full force and
effect upon its passage and publication in the manner provided by
law.
