HomeMy WebLinkAboutG37-99 Ordinance No. G37-99 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 3 OF THE ELGIN MUNICIPAL CODE, 1976 , AS AMENDED, ENTITLED "BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS" BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS : Section 1 . That Section 3 .44 . 020 of Chapter 3 . 44 of the Elgin Municipal Code, 1976 as amended, entitled "Parks and Recreation Board" be and is hereby further amended to read as follows : 3 . 44 . 020 MEMBERS--APPOINTMENT--TERMS . The parks and recreation board shall consist of eight members to be appointed by the city council . Each member so appointed shall serve for a term of three years . All members of the board shall continue in such capacity until their successors have been duly appointed and are acting. Any member appointed to fill a vacancy occurring prior to the expiration of the term for which his predecessor was appointed, shall serve for the remainder of such term. The parks and recreation board shall elect eft one of its members as chairman for a term of one year subject to reelection. Upon the resignation of a member of the board designated as chairman or upon the end of his term and in the event that he is not reappointed, the parks and recreation board shall designate another member of the board as chairman. In addition to the eight members regularly appointed to this board by the city council , the Elgin YMCA Future Leaders shall select two representatives to share the youth member position; only one member shall attend a meeting of the board as a youth representative . The member in attendance at a board meeting shall have a full voting member privilege and equal authority and responsibility with all other members duly appointed by the city council . Any such member shall be a resident of the city. The term of such members shall be one year and shall commence on February 1st and terminate on January 31st of the following year. In the case of the disbandment of the Elgin YMCA Future Leaders, the representative appointment procedure shall revert to the previously employed board configuration of three representatives being �/s► appointed, one from Larkin High School, one from Elgin High School and one from St . Edward High School, each of whom shall be entitled to vote . 0111." Section 2 . That Section 3 . 56 . 060 of Chapter 3 . 56 of the Elgin Municipal Code, 1976 as amended, entitled "Board of Examiners of Stationary Engineers-Stationary Engineer Licensing" be and is hereby further amended to read as follows : 3 . 56 . 060 BOARD OF EXAMINERS OF STATIONARY ENGINEERS- TERMS AND MEETINGS . A. The terms of the members of the board of examiners of stationary engineers shall be for three years and shall remain in effect until successors have been appointed. The appointments shall be staggered such that not more than one term shall expire in any single year. B. Regular meetings of the board shall be held in the city hall on the first Tuesday of each month between the hours of seven p.m. and ten p.m. Special meetings of the board may be called by the chairman or any two members, either by actual notice or by written notice mailed not later than the day preceding the day upon which the special meeting is to be held. Section 3 . That all ordinances or parts thereof in conflict with this ordinance be and are hereby repealed. Section 4 . That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage in the manner provided by law.
