HomeMy WebLinkAboutS14-98 (2) Ordinance No. S14-98 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE SALARY OF THE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS WHEREAS, Ordinance No. G-1417, passed on January 13, 1971, fixed the salary of the Mayor at Eighteen Hundred and no/100 Dollars ($1,800. 00) per year, and the salary for Councilmen at Twelve Hundred and no/100 Dollars ($1,200 . 00) per year; and WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is appropriate that the compensation for such offices should be increased. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS: Section 1 . That effective May 1, 1999, the annual salary for the office of Mayor of the City of Elgin shall be Seven Thousand Five Hundred and No/100 Dollars ( $7,500 . 00) . Section 2 . That effective May 1, 1999 , the annual salary for the City Council offices currently occupied by Councilman Terry Gavin and Councilwoman Marie Yearman and the vacant City Council office formerly held by John McKevitt shall be Five Thousand and no/100 Dollars ($5,000 . 00) . Section 3 . That effective May 1, 2001, the annual salary for the City Council offices currently held by Councilmen Robert Gilliam, Edward Schock and John Walters shall be Five Thousand and No/100 Dollars ($5,000) . Section 4 . That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance be and are hereby repealed. Section 5 .
