S18-91 ANNEXING CERTAIN TERRITORY TO THE CITY OF ELGIN (Southwest Corner of Randall Road and Route 72) BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS: Section 1 . That Section 1 of Ordinance No. S18-91 entitled "An Ordinance Annexing Certain Territory to the City of Elgin (Southwest Corner of Randall Road and Route 72) ", passed November 6, 1991, be and is hereby amended by amending the legal description of said territory to be annexed by including the far side of Route 72 and Randall Road, to read as follows: That part of the Southeast Quarter of the Northeast Quarter of Section 19, Township 42 North, Range 8 East of the Third Principal Meridian, lying southerly of the northerly right-of-way line of Illinois Route 72 , in Kane County, Illinois . and The Northeast Quarter of the Southeast Quarter of Section 19, Township 42 North, Range 8 East of the Third Principal Meridian, in Kane County, Illinois . and The Southeast Quarter of the Southeast Quarter of Section 19, Township 42 North, Range 8 East of the Third Principal Meridian, in Kane County, Illinois . and That part of the West Half of the Southwest Quarter and the Southwest Quarter of the Northwest Quarter of Section 20, Township 42 North, Range 8 East of the Third Principal Meridian, lying southerly of the northerly right-of-way line of Illinois Route 72 and lying westerly of the easterly right-of-way line of County Highway 34, in Kane County, Illinois . Section 2 . That, except as amended herein, Ordinance No. S18-91 remains in full force and effect. Section 3 . That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage in the manner provided by law. It seemed logical that recording the original would make a more complete record in the original ordinance books to prove that they had been recorded as required by law. However, I was later advised by the Legal Department that since the statute specifically states that a certified copy of annexation ordinances msut be recorded, I should discontinue the practice of recording the original ordinances .
