HomeMy WebLinkAboutG2-91 i Ordinance No. G2-91 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2 . 40 ENTITLED "FIRE DEPARTMENT" TO PROVIDE FOR PROBATIONARY PERIODS FOR FIRE FIGHTERS WITH PARAMEDIC RESPONSIBILITIES BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS AS FOLLOWS: Section 1 . That Chapter 2 .40 entitled "Fire Department" of the Elgin Municipal Code, 1976, as amended, be and is further amended by amending Section 2 .40. 045(A) to read as follows: 2.40 .045 Probationary Periods A. Appointees to the position of fire fighter shall be subject to and considered on a twelve month period of probation. Appointees to the position of fire fighter whose position includes paramedic responsibilities shall be subject to and considered on an eighteen month period of probation. The probationary period provided herein shall commence r4 on the first day of employment and shall not include and shall be stayed during the following: 1 . When a probationary appointee enters the United States armed forces during the probationary period. 2 . When a probationary appointee is unable to perform normal duties due to illness or non-duty related injuries for an extended length of time during the probationary period. Section 2 . That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed. Section 3.
