AN ORDINANCE
VACATING A PORTION OF A PUBLIC STREET
(Shales Parkway)
WHEREAS, the public interest will be served by vacating a
portion of a public street in the City of Elgin, Cook County,
Illinois, as shown in Exhibit "A" attached hereto; and
WHEREAS, said property is not necessary to serve the
public.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS:
Section 1 . That a portion of a public street in the City
of Elgin, Cook County, Illinois, legally described as follows:
That part of Section 20, Township 41 North,
Range 2 East of the Third Principal Meridian,
described as follows : Commencing at the
intersection of the Westerly line of the Elgin,
Joliet and Eastern Railroad with the Northerly line
of a public highway as established by plat of
r"' dedication Document No. 9171745; thence Northerly
along said Westerly line a distance of 550.0 feet;
thence Northwesterly parallel with the Northerly
line of lands dedicated by Document No. 9171745, a
distance of 230 . 16 feet; thence Southerly, parallel
with the Westerly line of the Elgin, Joliet and
Eastern Railroad, a distance of 504 . 76 feet to a
point on a line that is 45. 0 feet North of (as
measured at right angles thereto) the North line of
land dedicated by Document No. 9171745 thence
Northwesterly along a line that is 45. 0 feet North
of (as measured at right angles thereto) and
parallel to the Northerly line of land dedicated by
Document No. 9171745 a distance of 295.84 feet for a
place of beginning, thence continuing along the last
described course a distance of 139 .72 feet, thence
continuing Northwesterly along a line that forms an
angle of 2 degrees 08 minutes to the left with the
prolongation of the last described course and is
45 . 0 feet North of (as measured at right angles
thereto) and parallel to the Northerly line of land
dedicated by Document No. 9171745, a distance of
99 .91 feet; thence continuing Northwesterly along a
line that forms an angle of 3 degrees 00 minutes to
the right with the prolongation of the last
described course and is 45.0 feet North of (as
measured at right angles thereto) and parallel to
the Northerly line of lands dedicated by Document
No. 9171745, a distance of 87 . 71 feet; thence
Southerly along a line that forms an angle of 103
degrees 36 minutes to the left with the prolongation
of the last described course, a distance of 46 .29
feet, to a point on the Northerly line of lands
dedicated by Document No. 9171745; thence
Southeasterly along said Northerly line a distance
of 75.99 feet; thence Northeasterly along a line
that is at right angles to the last described
course, a distance of 15 . 0 feet; thence
Southeasterly along a line that is at right angles
with the last described course and is parallel to
the Northerly line of land dedicated by Document No.
9171745, a distance of 1 .72 feet; thence continuing
Southeasterly along a line that forms an angle of 3
degrees 00 minutes to the left with the prolongation
of the last described course and is 15 . 0 feet North
of (as measured at right angles thereto) and
parallel to the Northerly line of lands dedicated by
Document No. 9171745, a distance of 100. 15 feet;
thence continuing Southeasterly along a line that
forms an angle of 2 degrees 08 minutes to the right
with the prolongation of the last described course
and is 15.0 feet North of (as measured at right
angles thereto) the Northerly line of lands
dedicated by Document No. 9171745; a distance of
144 .44 feet; thence Northerly along a line that
forms an angle of 100 degrees 11 minutes 45 seconds
to the left with the prolongation of the last
described course, a distance of 30 .48 feet to the
place of beginning. Containing 0 .2516 acres more or
less and being situated in the City of Elgin, Cook
County, Illinois.

Section 2 . That the City of Elgin does hereby reserve to
itself and to any public utility company owning any public
service for facilities in, upon or under said right of way
vacated by this ordinance full right of access for the purpose
of continuing or extending any public service facilities and
to maintain, renew, extend or construct or reconstruct any
such public service facilities.
Section 3 . That a certified copy of this ordinance
together with a plat of said vacated right of way be filed
with the Recorder of Deeds of Cook County, Illinois.
Section 4 . That this ordinance shall be in full force
and effect from and after its passage in the manner provided
by law.
