HomeMy WebLinkAboutG15-90 ►, f, Ordinance No. G15-90 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 16.48 OF THE ELGIN MUNICIPAL CODE, 1976, ENTITLED FEE SCHEDULE FOR INSPECTIONS AND PERMITS BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS: Section I. That Section 16.48.020 of the Elgin Municipal Code, 1976, as amended, be and is hereby amended to read as follows: 16.48.020 Building. A. New Construction and Additions - Residential. (Plus Plan Check and Occupancy Fees When Applicable) Per 100 sq. ft., or portion thereof of overall area of each floor above and below grade $ 10.00 Garages - Private up to 800 sq. ft. (over 800 see new construction). Per 100 sq. ft. or portion thereof of overall area $ 7.50 B. New Construction and Additions - Commercial and Industrial. (Plus Plan Check and Occupancy Fees When Applicable) Per 100 sq. ft., or portion thereof, of overall area of each floor above and below grade $ 8.50 C. Alterations and Repairs (Other Than Roofs) - All Uses. (Plus Plan Check When Applicable) Per thousand dollar valuation or fraction thereof $ 20.00 D. Roof Alterations and Repairs - All Uses. I - 3,000 square feet of roof area $ 25.00 3,001 - 10,000 square feet of roof area $ 50.00 Over 10,000 square feet of roof area $ 100.00 E. Moving Buildings - All Uses. $ 150.00 Note: Application for a permit shall be accompanied by a $1,000,000 liability insurance policy naming the city as additional insured. F. Demolition of Buildings - All Uses. With sewer $ 30.00 Without sewer $ 20.00 Note: Liability insurance, same as moving, or as determined by the building official. G. Certificate of Occupancy - MI Uses. Per tenant space $ 25.00 Partial or temporary certificate of occupancy, per tenant space $ 50.00 Reoccupancy or change of use $ 50.00 Section 2. That Section 16.48.030 of the Elgin Municipal Code, 1976, as amended, be and is hereby amended to read as follows: 16.48.030 Miscellaneous construction - All uses. A. Accessory Building (Other Than Private Garages). Up to 150 sq. ft. $ 20.00 Over 150 sq. ft. - see schedule for new construction B. Elevators, Escalators, Dumbwaiters and Docklifts. Per unit $ 300.00 C. Fences. $ 20.00 D. Fuel and Storage Tanks (Per Tank). Installation of new tank $ 100.00 Removal or alteration/repair of tank $ 50.00 E. Housing Inspection - Requested. Change of ownership (for VA, FHA or private loan) $ 25.00 Each additional dwelling unit $ 10.00 F. Prefab Fireplaces. $ 30.00 i G. Signs. Per sign - non illuminated $ 30.00 Per sign - illuminated $ 60.00 Temporary signs $ 30.00 H. Swimming Pools. Aboveground (private) $ 25.00 In ground (private and semi-private) $ 75.00 Section 3. That Section 16.48.040 of the Elgin Municipal Code, 1976, as amended, be and is hereby amended to read as follows: 16.48.040 Heating and air conditioning - All uses. A. Warm Air Furnace and Boiler. Replacement or conversion (per heating unit) $ 25.00 New installation (first heating unit) $ 80.00 Each additional unit $ 40.00 B. Central Air Conditioning (Per Unit). $ 20.00 C. Duct Work Only - Change or Addition. $ 25.00 Section 4. That Section 16.48.050 of the Elgin Municipal Code, 1976, as amended, be and is hereby amended to read as follows: 16.48.050 Plumbing. A. New Construction - Residential. Single family $ 100.00 Multiple residential (per unit) $ 75.00 B. New Construction - Commercial and Industrial. I - 5 fixtures and gas openings $ 60.00 Each additional fixture or gas opening in excess of 5 $ 10.00 r isek C. Fixture Addition or Replacement (When Venting Required) - All Uses. Per fixture, unit or opening $ 20.00 D. Piping Alterations Only - All Uses. $ 20.00 E. Sewer and/or Water Service Connection - All Uses. $ 30.00 F. Private Septic System - All Uses. $ 30.00 G. Private Water Supply System - All Uses. $ 30.00 H. Lawn Sprinkler System - All Uses. $ 35.00 I. That Section 16.48.060 of the Elgin Municipal Code, 1976, as amended, be and is hereby amended to read as follows: 16.48.060 Electrical. A. New Construction - Residential. Single family $ 100.00 Multiple family (per unit) $ 75.00 B. New Construction - Commercial and Industrial (Plus Wiring and Circuiting). 0 - 400 amp service $ 60.00 Over 400 amp service $ 125.00 C. Alteration - Residential. Single family $ 25.00 Multiple family $ 50.00 D. Alteration - Commercial and Industrial (Plus Wiring and Circuiting). 0 - 400 amp service $ 60.00 Over 400 amp service $ 125.00 E. Wiring and Circuiting - Commercial and Industrial. I to I,000 sq. ft. $ 40.00 Each additional 1,000 sq. ft. or fraction thereof $ 20.00 F. Electric Heat - New/Alteration - All Uses. (Per dwelling unit or tenant space) I - 250 sq. ft. of overall area $ 20.00 251 - 500 sq. ft. of overall area $ 40.00 Over 500 sq. ft. of overall area $ 50.00 G. Temporary Electric Service - All Uses. $ 25.00 H. Miscellaneous Lighting (Parking Lots, Security, Passageways, etc.) - All Uses. $ 25.00 I. Temporary Installations - All Uses. Inspections of temporary installations, under- ground or overhead wires and apparatus, change over, and all other inspections not specifically provided for herein shall be charged for at the following rate $ 25.00 Section 6. That Section 16.48.070 of the Elgin Municipal Code, 1976, as amended, be and is hereby amended to read as follows: 16.48.070 Administration. A. Permit Extension - Each Permit. $ 20.00 B. Reinspection Fees - Each. $ 25.00 C. Penalties. One hundred percent of permit fee shall be added if work is started without a permit. eink D. Plan Check. Fifty percent of building permit fee is added when plans are required. E. Refunds. No fees shall be refunded where permit has lapsed as specified elsewhere. Where permit is revoked at the request of the applicant prior to lapsing due to time limits, and no work has been done under the permit, all but $20.00 may be refunded. Requests for refunds must be in writing. F. Waiver of Fees. No permit fee otherwise required by this chapter shall be required of any unit of local government as defined by the Constitution of Illinois 1970. Section 7. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance be and are hereby repealed. Section 8.
