HomeMy WebLinkAboutG26-88 Ordinance No. G26-88 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 3 ENTITLED BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS OF THE ELGIN MUNICIPAL CODE, 1976, AS AMENDED BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS: Section I. That Title 3, Chapter 3.04 of the Elgin Municipal Code, 1976, as amended, be and is hereby further amended by amending Section 3.04.040 to the read as follows: 3.04.040 Exemptions from classified service. That in addition to the exemptions from the classified civil service described in Section 10-1-17 of Division I of Article 10 of Chapter 24 of the Illinois Revised Statutes, 1985, the following positions shall also be exempt from the classified civil service: water operations director, engineering director, engineering super- visor, superintendent of B.I.S., assistant superintendent of B.I.S., parks superintendent, water operations engineer, assistant to finance director, budget officer, civil engineer II, data processing supervisor, supervisor of training (fire), purchasing agent, senior planner, senior planner/land use administrator, streets and sanitation superintendent, water plant super- intendent, city clerk, electrical superintendent, greens superintendent, recreation director, sewer and water superintendent, accounting supervisor, human relations coordinator, public health officer, chief water plant operator, associate planner, auditorium operations manager, civil engineer I, garage supervisor, chief water laboratory chemist, transit supervisor, administrative assistant, analyst/programmer, supervisor of housing enforcement, assistant building maintenance superintendent, cemetery supervisor, parks maintenance supervisor, water meter supervisor, accountant, planner, program coordinator, parking meter supervisor, program analyst, programmer, recreation supervisor, stage manager, water laboratory chemist, administrative coordinator, housing program administrator, executive secretary, paralegal/deputy city clerk, personnel assistant, fair housing specialist, police secretary, and clerk typist - personnel. Any person appointed either by civil service commission or who has been reclassified while maintaining their civil service status to any of the above-described positions prior to the effective date of the ordinance codified in this section shall continue to be a member of the classified civil service of the city of Elgin until separated from said civil service in the manner provided by law. Section 2. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provi- sions of this ordinance be and are hereby repealed. I Section 3.
