HomeMy WebLinkAboutG58-87 Ordinance No. G58-87 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR REVOCABLE PERMITS FOR BASKETBALL GOALS IN THE PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS: Section I. Basketball goals shall be permitted in the public right of way including any parkway or tree bank only if authorized by a written permit issued by the Director of Public Works. Section 2. A permit for a basketball goal may be issued by the Director of Public Works if, upon written application on a form prescribed by him, he shall determine, that the erection, maintenance and use of a basketball goal at the location requested will present no hazard to public safety and will not otherwise interfere with City operations. Section 3. No permit shall issue unless a certificate of liability insurance which specifically names the City of Elgin as an insured in a minimum amount of $500,000 has been filed with the City Clerk; any such certificate shall clearly provide that coverage is afforded for any claim arising out of the installation, maintenance and use of the basket- ball goal permitted and that written notice of cancellation shall be given to the City of Elgin not less than thirty days prior to the effective date of cancellation. Section 4. Any permit issued pursuant to this ordinance shall be for a period of one year and shall be revocable by the City of Elgin upon written notice to the applicant. Any basketball goal erected shall be removed by the applicant upon non- renewal of the permit or notice of termination. Section 5.
