HomeMy WebLinkAboutG7-86 Ordinance No. G7-86 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING MINIMUM ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS FOR MEMBERS OF BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS: Section I. That the Elgin Municipal Code, 1976, as amended, is hereby amended by adding the following: Chapter 3.03. Attendance at Meetings. 3.03.010 Minimum Attendance Requirements Any member who fails to attend 75 percent of the meetings of a board, commission or committee including regular, special or emergency meetings in any calendar year shall be deemed to have abandoned his office thereby creating a vacancy. Section 2. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage in the manner provided by law. s/ Richard L. Verbic Richard L. This Ordinance was passed by the City Council on January 27 , 1986 , and it was the intent and hope of the Council that the passage of this Ordinance would help to provide full participation by the members of the various Boards and Commissions. elk The Council has also indicated they will evaluate this Ordinance next year, and it will be appreciated if you will submit a quarterly attendance report for your Board or Commission. This report will assist the Council when making said evaluation. The Council recognizes and appreciates the time and effort given by each member, and welcomes your imput .
