HomeMy WebLinkAboutG7-85 Ordinance No. G7-85 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE PROVISIONS OF THE RESIDENTIAL REHABILITATION GRANT PROGRAM WHEREAS, the City of Elgin has heretofore established a residential rehabilitation grant program to encourage the rehabilitation of older housing units which are in dis- repair or deteriorated; and WHEREAS, the City of Elgin desires to expand the residential rehabilitation program to allow grants for those individuals who own dwelling units which the Building Official determines to be unfit for human occupancy; and WHEREAS, the City of Elgin is a home rule unit within the meaning of the Constitution of the State of Illinois and is authorized to exercise any power and perform any function relating to its government and affairs; and WHEREAS, it is within the government and affairs of the City of Elgin and in the interest of the public health, safety and welfare to promote the rehabilitation of the deteriorating residential buildings in the City of Elgin. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS: Section I. That Section 5 of Ordinance No. G42-77, as amended by Ordinance Nos. G28-78, G28-79, G45-79, G27-83 and G27-84, be and is hereby amended to read as follows: "E. Grants. The grant percentage otherwise applicable to any program participant located within the City of Elgin's Enterprise Zone, as designated under Ordinance No. G63-84 and certified under the Illinois Enterprise Zone Act (Public Act 82-1019) shall be increased by 5 percent (5%)." Section 2. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provi- sions of this ordinance be and are hereby repealed. Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage in the manner provided by law. s/ Richard L. Verbic Richard L.
