Elgin, Illinois 60120-5555 Attention: Ms. Marie Yearman City Clerk Gentlemen: This is to acknowledge receipt of your Ordinance imposing a tax at the rate of $50.00 on any motor vehicle as defined in Section 1-146 of the Illinois Vehicle Code purchased by or on behalf of an insurance company, pursuant to Senate Bill 926 (PA 83-114) . Archie Lawrence Staff Attorney Legal Services Bureau Springfield Office Phone: (217) 782-7054 AL:msk r Ordinance No. T1-84 ("6: AN ORDINANCE IMPOSING A MJNICIPAL REPLACEMENT VEHICLE TAX BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS: Section 1. A tax is hereby imposed upon each vehicle, as defined in Section 1-146 of The Illinois Vehicle Code, purchased in the City of Elgin by or on behalf of an insurance company to replace a vehicle of an insured person in settlement of a total loss claim. The tax shall be in the amount of Fifty Dollars ($50.00) per vehicle purchased. Section 2. Every such insurance company that purchases a replacement vehicle as defined herein shall complete and file with the Illinois Depart- ment of Revenue a replacement vehicle certificate (Form RVT-7). Section 3. At the time such report is filed, there shall be paid to the State Department of Revenue the amount of tax hereby imposed. Section 4. The City Clerk is hereby directed to transmit to the State Department of Revenue a certified copy of this ordinance not later than thirty (30) days after the effective date of this ordinance. Section 5. This ordinance shall be published within ten days of its enactment as provided in Section 1-2-4 of the Illinois Municipal Code and shall be effective from and after the first day of May, 1984. s/ Richard L.
