HomeMy WebLinkAboutG39-80 Ordinance No. G39-80 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ELGIN ZONING ORDINANCE BY REDEFINING THE TERM BUILDING HEIGHT WHEREAS, written application has been made to amend the text of the Elgin Zoning Ordinance relating to the definition of building height; and WHEREAS, after due notice the Planning Committee conducted a public hearing and has recommended that the application for an amendment to the text of the Elgin Zoning Ordinance relating to the definition of building height be granted; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Elgin concurs in the recom- mendations of the Planning Committee. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS: Section 1. That the definition of building height in Section 19.04.110 of Chapter 19 of the Elgin Municipal Code, 1976, as amended, be and is hereby amended to read as follows: "Building height" means the vertical distance measured from the established average grade at the foundation to the highest point of the underside of the ceiling beams, in the eft case of the flat roof; to the deck line of a mansard roof; and to the mean level of the underside of rafters between the eaves and the ridge of a gable, hip, or gambrel roof. Chimneys, spires, towers, elevator penthouses, tanks, and similar projections other than signs shall not be included in calculating the height." Section 2. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage in the manner provided by law and shall be published in pamphlet form by authority of the City Council. s/ Richard L.
