ENTITLED "THE ADOPTION AND ADMINISTRATION OF POSITION CLASSIFICATION AND PAY PLANS" OF CHAPTER 6 OF THE CITY CODE (ORDINANCE NO. S-569, PASSED DECEMBER 23, 1955) AS PERTAINS TO THE COMPENSATION PLANS AND TO THE SCHEDULE OF STANDARD SALARY RANGES AND THE OFFICIAL SALARY PLAN OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS, AS AMENDED WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Elgin has heretofore ratified and approved negotiated understandings with various Employee Relations Committees that contain a cost of living clause; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Elgin set management salaries for 1979 (Ordinance No. G90-78) based on projected increases in the Consumer Price Index; that affect the employee cost of living clauses; and WHEREAS, the rate of increase yielded by the cost of living clauses exceeds the original projections the City Council desires to maintain a "tandem relationship" as provided under the voluntary Price and Wage guidelines. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS: Section 1. That in addition to the provisions of Ordinance No. G90-78, the 'A-B-C' salary ranges shall be adjusted effective July 1, 1979 as follows: 'A' series ranges to be increased one and one half percent (111%) 'B' series ranges to be increased two percent (2%1 'C' series ranges to be increased two and one half percent (211%) Section 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to prepare an appropriate schedule reflecting the foregoing amendments to the salary ranges of the City of Elgin. Section 3. That- this ordinance shall be in full force and effect as of July 1, 1979. s/ Richard L. Verbic Richard L.
