eft AN ORDINANCE
GRANTING A SPECIAL USE FOR A RECREATIONAL BUILDING
WHEREAS, written application has been made for a special use to permit
the operation of a recreational building at 1449 North McLean Boulevard,
Elgin, Illinois; and
WHEREAS, the Land Use Committee conducted a public hearing on said
application after due notice as required by law; and
WHEREAS, the Land Use Committee recommended that the special use
requested be granted; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Elgin concurs in the recommenda-
tions of the Land Use Committee.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN,
ILLINOIS:
Section 1. That the City Council hereby finds that the proposed special
use is deemed necessary for public convenience at that location in that it
will make available needed recreational facilities for use by employees of
surrounding office and manufacturing establishments as well as the community
at large;
The City Council further finds that the proposed special use is so
designed, located and proposed to be operated that the public health, safety
and welfare will be protected in that it is located in a manufacturing district
and is compatible with surrounding uses, has adequate off street parking
capacity, and all activity will be conducted within the proposed structure;
The City Council further finds that the proposed special use will not
cause substantial injury to the value of other property in the neighborhood
in Mich it is located as the proposed use is in a manufacturing district and
isr compatible with surrounding land uses and will provide adequate off street
Section 2. That a special use is hereby granted to Herbert Calhoun,
representing Elgin Spa and Racketball Club, a limited partnership, for the
operation of a recreational building at the premises located at 1449 North
McLean Boulevard, Elgin, Illinois, and legally described as follows:
Lot 7 except the Easterly 334.25 feet (as measured at right
angles to the East line thereof) in the First Addition to Miller-
Davis Research and Industrial Center, being a Subdivision of part
of the Southeast Quarter of Section 32, and part of the Southwest
Quarter of Section 33, Township 42 North, Range 8 East of the Third
Principal Meridian, according to the plat thereof recorded in the
Recorder's Office of Kane County, on October 13, 1971 as Document
No. 1206526. Being situated in the City of Elgin, Kane County,
Illinois.
subject to the following conditions:
1. All recreational activities shall be conducted within
the building;
2. No exterior courts shall be permitted; and
3. That not less than six off-street parking spaces shall
be provided for each court or 78 off-street parking spaces shall
be provided, whichever is greater.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage in the manner provided by law.
