AN ORDINANCE
ABATING A PORTION OF THE 1977 TAX LEVIED FOR
SPECIAL SERVICE AREA NUMBER TWO
WHEREAS, on August 24, 1977 an ordinance was passed by the corporate
authorities of the City of Elgin as the governing body of Elgin Special
Service Area Number Two levying taxes for special services in said special
service area; and
WHEREAS, the total of the levy of the tax for the year 1977 provided
in the ordinance is not necessary to pay expenditures incurred during 1977.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN,
ILLINOIS:
Section 1. That the County Clerk of Kane County is hereby authorized
and directed to abate the tax levied for 1977 for Elgin Special Service Area
Number Two passed on August 24, 1977, a copy of which has been filed with
said County Clerk; said tax shall be abated by reducing the levy of $147,300
by the sum of $98,200 and extending a tax in the amount of $49,100 against
all taxable property situated in Elgin Special Service Area Number Two,
Section 2. That the City Clerk is authorized and directed to file a
certified copy of this ordinance with the County Clerk of Kane County prior
to January 1, 1978.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law,
