AN ORDINANCE
GRANTING A SPECIAL USE FOR OFF-STREET PARKING AT 814 CENTER STREET,
ELGIN, ILLINOIS
WHEREAS, written application has been made for a special use to
permit off-street parking at 814 Center Street, Elgin, Illinois; and
WHEREAS, the Land Use Committee conducted a public hearing on said
application after due notice as required by law; and
WHEREAS, the Land Use Committee recommended that the special use
requested be granted subject to certain conditions; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Elgin concurs in the
recommendations of the Land Use Committee.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ELGIN, ILLINOIS:
Section 1. That the City Council hereby finds that the proposed
special use is adjacent to existing lots used for off-street parking;
The City Council further finds that the proposed use will not cause
substantial injury to the property or to the property in the neighborhood
in which it is located as surrounding property is being used in a similar
manner;
The City Council further finds that the proposed use is necessary to
promote public convenience by alleviating traffic congestion and providing
necessary off-street parking for hospital and is necessary as an interim
facility pending construction of an appropriate facility.
Section 2. That a special use is hereby granted to permit off-street
parking on the property commonly known as 814 Center Street, Elgin, Illinois,
and legally described as follows:
Lot 18, Block 1, Grote & Waldron's Second Addition in the
City of Elgin, Kane County, Illinois.
subject to the following conditions:
1. That the special use herein granted shall expire ten
years from the date of this ordinance.
2. That Sherman Hospital shall develop a long range
parking plan for the construction of multi-level parking
at a location convenient to the hospital and which provides
for future residential uses of the surrounding property owned
by Sherman Hospital and presently devoted to off-street parking.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage in the manner provided by law.
