HomeMy WebLinkAboutG20-77 Ordinance No. G20-77 AN ORDINANCE GRANTING A SPECIAL USE FOR OFF-STREET PARKING AT 802, 808, 820, AND 828 CENTER STREET, ELGIN, ILLINOIS WHEREAS, written application has been made for a special use to permit off-street parking at 802, 808, 820 and 828 Center Street, Elgin, Illinois; and WHEREAS, the Land Use Committee conducted a public hearing on said application after due notice as required by law; and WHEREAS, the Land Use Committee recommended that the special use requested be granted subject to certain conditions; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Elgin concurs in the recommendations of the Land Use Committee. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS: Section 1. That the City Council hereby finds and determines that the proposed special use for off-street parking at 802, 808, 820 and 828 Center Street, Elgin, Illinois, is deemed necessary for the public con- venience in providing necessary motor vehicle parking for physicians, employees, visitors and out-patients of Sherman Hospital; The City Council further finds that the proposed special use upon the conditions hereinafter set forth are so designed, located and proposed to be operated so that the public health, safety and welfare will be protected; The City Council further finds that the proposed use will not cause substantial injury to the property or to the property in the neighborhood in which it is located in that the property has been used in a similar manner and that appropriate conditions will be placed upon the special use to protect surrounding properties. Section 2. That a special use is hereby granted to permit off-street parking on the property commonly known as 802, 808, 820 and 828 Center Street, and legally described as follows: Lots 16, 17, 19 and 20, Block 1 of Grote Waldron's Addition to the City of Elgin, Kane County, Illinois. subject to the following conditions: 1. That approval for this special use be considered temporary for a period of time not to exceed 10 years. 2. That petitioner shall make application for a special use for off-street parking at 814 Center Street, the remaining residence located between the four lots being considered, within sixty (60) days after acquisition. 3. That Sherman Hospital shall develop a long range parking plan consistent with the needs and the surrounding community. Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage in the manner provided by law. S/ Richard L . Verbic Richard L.
