AN ORDINANCE
ESTABLISHING SALARY RATES FOR CERTAIN FULL-TIME
TRANSPORTATION EMPLOYEES
WHEREAS, the City Council has heretofore ratified and approved nego-
tiated understandings reached by the City of Elgin's Wage and Benefit
Committee and various Employee Relations Committees; and
WHEREAS, the City of Elgin has agreed to implement a new schedule for
certain employees as described herein.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ELGIN, ILLINOIS:
Section 1. That there is hereby established the following salary
schedule:
Bus Driver
Length of Service July 4, 1976 January 2, 1977 July 3, 1977
0 to 6 months $4.82 $5.09 $5.18
6 to 12 months $5.09 $5.37 $5.47
12 months and over $5.36 $5.65 $5.76

Lead Driver
Certain drivers may be designated as a Lead Driver and will be com-
pensated at five percent (5%) over the above applicable rate for the
assignment.
Section 2. That effective July 3, 1977, there shall be an additional
increase in the one year rate if the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage
Earners and Clerical Workers - Chicago, All Items (1967= 100) (herein called
"CPI") for the month of May, 1977, has increased one-half percent (Z%) or
more above six and one-half percent (61/2%) over the preceding CPI figure for
the month of May, 1976.
Section 3. Employees currently on the active payroll as of July 4, 1976,
or have retired since January 4, 1976, shall receive a retroactive payment
computed on the basis of 51(t per hour for each hour actually worked between
January 4, 1976 and July 3, 1976.
Section 4. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to
prepare an appropriate schedule reflecting the foregoing amendments to the
salary ranges of the City of Elgin.
Section 5. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with
the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 6. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect
as of July 4, 1976.
