AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING ARTICLE 9 OF CHAPTER 19 OF THE CITY CODE OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS
ADOPTING THE 1975 EDITION OF THE B.O.C.A. BASIC HOUSING--PROPERTY
MAINTENANCE CODE
WHEREAS, the City of Elgin has heretofore adopted by reference the
B.O.C.A. Basic Housing--Property Maintenance Code--1970 as the Housing
Code of the City of Elgin; and
WHEREAS, the 1975 Edition of Basic Housing--Property Maintenance
Code has been published; and
WHEREAS, the City of Elgin desires to amend its Housing Code by
adoption by reference of the 1975 Edition of the B.O.C.A. Basic Housing--
Property Maintenance Code; and
WHEREAS, the Third Edition, 1975, of the B.O.C.A. Basic Housing--
Property Maintenance Code has been on file with the City Clerk prior to
adoption of this ordinance as required by the statutes of the State of
Illinois.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ELGIN, ILLINOIS:
Section 1. That Section 19-902 of Article 9 of Chapter 19 of the
City Code of Elgin, Illinois, be and the same is hereby amended.
"19.902. Adoption of Basic Housing Code.
The regulations of the Third Edition, 1975, of the B.O.C.A.
Basic Housing--Property Maintenance Code, recommended and
published by the Building Officials and Code Administrators
International, Incorporated published in pamphlet form are
hereby adopted as the Housing Code of the City of Elgin,
except for Subsection H-301.7 entitled 'Motor Vehicles' and
Subsection H-302.8 entitled 'Exit Doors' which are hereby
deleted in their entirety."
Section 2. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage in the manner provided by law and shall be
published in pamphlet form by authority of the City Council.
