AN ORDINANCE
TO AMEND THE ELGIN ZONING ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE FOR INSTITUTIONAL
HEADQUARTERS FOR EDUCATIONAL, FRATERNAL, PROFESSIONAL AND RELIGIOUS
USES AS A SPECIAL USE IN R-4, GENERAL RESIDENCE DISTRICTS
WHEREAS, an amendment has been proposed to the Zoning Ordinance of
the City of Elgin to provide for institutional headquarters for educa-
tional, fraternal, professional and religious uses as a special use in
R-4, General Residence Districts; and
WHEREAS, the Plan Commission has reviewed said proposal and submitted
its findings and recommendations to the City Council and Zoning Board of
Appeals; and
WHEREAS, the Zoning Board of Appeals conducted a public hearing after
due notice as required by the statutes of the State of Illinois and the
Zoning Ordinance of the City of Elgin; and
WHEREAS, the Zoning Board of Appeals has recommended that said proposed
amendment be made.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ELGIN, ILLINOIS:
Section 1. That Section 21-107F(1) of Chapter 21 of the Elgin Municipal
fCode be and is hereby amended by deleting the following:
"e. Institutional headquarters for educational, fraternal,
professional, religious and other nonprofit organizations."
and redesignating the succeeding subparagraphs accordingly.
Section 2. That Section 21-107E(2) of Chapter 21 be and is hereby
amended to add the following to the list of special uses:
"h. Institutional headquarters for educational, fraternal,
professional, and religious organizations."
Section 3. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with
the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 4. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage in the manner provided by law and shall be published
in pamphlet form by authority of the City Council.
