AN ORDINANCE
eft ESTABLISHING MAXIMUM LEGAL PARKING TIME FOR THIRTY MINUTE, ONE HOUR,
OR TWO HOUR PARKING METER SPACES LOCATED IN OFF STREET PARKING
FACILITIES OWNED, CONTROLLED AND OPERATED BY THE CITY OF ELGIN
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS:
Section 1 . That Subsection 17-1204(d)5 establishing maximum legal
parking time for thirty minute, one hour, or two hour parking meter spaces
located in off street parking facilities owned, controlled and operated
by the City of Elgin is hereby added to the City Code of the City of Elgin
and shall read as follows:
"17-1204(d)5. It shall be unlawful and a violation of
the provisions of this ordinance for any person to cause,
allow, permit or suffer any vehicle registered in the name
of or operated by such person to be parked beyond the maximum
legal parking limit for thirty minute, one hour or two hour
parking meters or to deposit in such parking meters any coin
for the purpose of parking beyond the maximum legal parking
time. The maximum legal parking time shall be thirty minutes
at thirty minute meters, one hour at one hour meters, and two
hours at two hour meters. "
Section 2. That Subsection 17-1204(b) be and is hereby amended
so that the second paragraph thereof reads as follows:
"17-1204(b). The deposit of such coins in the parking
meter adjacent to the place occupied shall entitle the owner
or operator of such vehicle to legal parking for the number
of hours indicated by the deposit of the required coins not
to exceed the maximum number of hours established in Subsection
(d) of this section. "
Section 3. That Section 17-1205 be and is hereby amended to read
as follows:
"17-1205. Parking violations. It shall be unlawful for any
person to park or the owner of any vehicle to permit a vehicle owned
by him to be parked in any space adjacent to a parking meter for a
period longer than the legal parking period to which he is entitled
by the deposit of coins as hereinbefore provided. Parking violations
shall be indicated on the meter by the display of a red disk. Nothing
herein provided shall prohibit any person from parking in or remaining
in any such space during the period when legal parking is indicated
on the meter dial not to exceed the maximum number of hours permitted."

Section 4. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with
the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 5. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage as provided by law and shall be published in pamphlet
form by authority of the City Council .
