HomeMy WebLinkAboutG1-74 Ordinance No. G1-74 pow:- AN ORDINANCE 4— ESTABLISHING EXEMPTIONS FROM THE CLASSIFIED SERVICE OF THE CITY OF ELGIN. WHEREAS -the City of Elgin has previously adopted the provisions of Division 1 of Article 10 of Chapter 24 of the Illinois Revised Statutes, 1971, providing for Civil Service in cities; and WHEREAS, the City of Elgin pursuant to the Constitution of 1970 is a home rule unit authorized to exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its:.government and affairs; and WHEREAS, it is necessary and desirable to exempt certain positions from the classified service of the City of Elgin in order to expedite recruitment selection of qualified candidates for said positions. NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS: Section 1. That there is hereby added to the exemptions from the classified service described in Section 10-1-17 of Division 1 of Article 10 of Chapter 24 of the Illinois Revised Statutes, 1971, the following positions: Engineering Director, Water Director, Chief Plant Operator/Chemist, Planning Director, Health and Housing Supervisor, Inspection Supervisor, Senior Planner, q Planning Assistant, Assistant Finance Director, Recrea- tion Director, Civil Engineer I, Civil Engineer II, Street Superintendent and Laborer. Said positions and all positions described in Section 10-1-17 of Division 1 of Article 10 of Chapter 24 of the Illinois Revised Statutes, 1971, shall not be included in the classified service of the City of Elgin. Section 2. That any person appointed to any of the positions described in Section 1 of this ordinance by the Civil Service Commission prior to the effective date of this ordinance shall continue to be a member of the classified service of the City of Elgin until separated from said service in the manner provided by law. Section 3. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed. Section 4. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage in the manner provided by law. W. E. Rauschenberger (Signature) W. E.
