HomeMy WebLinkAboutG15-74 Ordinance No. G15-74 AN ORDINANCE GRANTING A SPECIAL USE FOR AN INSTITUTION FOR THE AGED AT BROOK AND DOUGLAS AVENUE. WHEREAS, written application has been made for a special use for an institution for the aged on the property located at 454 and 456 Douglas Avenue, 100 and 112 Seneca Street, and 459 Brook Street, Elgin, Illinois; and WHEREAS, the Plan Commission has forwarded its written report to the Zoning Board of Appeals and the City Council; and WHEREAS, a public hearing has been held by the Zoning Board of Appeals after due notice; and WHEREAS, the Zoning Board of Appeals has submitted its findings and recommended that the application be granted; and WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed the findings and recommendations submitted to it. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS. Section 1. That the City Council hereby finds that such establishment and maintenance of a nursing home at the proposed location is necessary for "" the public convenience; that the public health, safety and welfare will be protected; and that the proposed use will not cause substantial injury to other property in the neighborhood in which it is located. Section 2. That a special use be and is hereby granted for the construc- tion and operation of a two-story, 99-bed nursing home on the premises legally described as follows: Parcel 1: That part of Lots 1, 2 and 4 in Block 20 of P. J. Kimball Jr's. Third Addition to Elgin, described as follows: Beginning at a point on the East line of said Block 132 feet South of the Northeast corner thereof, thence West parallel with the South line of Summit Street 198 feet, thence North parallel with the West line of Douglas Avenue 4 feet; thence Southwesterly to a point in the North line of Lot 1 in Block 20 aforesaid 128 feet East of the Northwest corner of said Lot 1, thence South parallel with the West line of Douglas Avenue 40 feet, thence East parallel with the North line of Seneca Street 4 feet, thence South parallel with the West line of Douglas Avenue 8 feet, thence East parallel with the North line of Seneca Street to a point 143 feet West of the West line of Douglas Avenue, thence South parallel with the West line of Douglas Avenue 84 feet to the North line of Seneca Street, thence East along the North line of Seneca Street 143 feet to the Southeast corner of said block, thence North along the West line of Douglas Avenue 132 feet to the point of beginning, in the City of Elgin, Kane County, Illinois. (Commonly known as 454 and 456 Douglas Avenue). Section 4.
