HomeMy WebLinkAboutG-1607 Ordinance No. G-1607 AN ORDINANCE PERMITTING A RIGHT TURN AFTER A FULL STOP AT A RED SIGNAL. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS: Section 1. That Article 4 of Chapter 17 of the Elgin City Code as amended is hereby amended by amending Section 17-406(c)1 to read as follows: "1. Vehicular traffic facing a steady red signal alone shall stop before entering the crosswalk on the near side of the intersection, or, if none then before entering the inter- section and shall remain standing until a green indication is shown. When a sign is in place permitting a right turn vehicular traffic facing a steady red signal may cautiously enter the intersection to make the turn indicated by such sign after stopping; such vehicular traffic shall yield the right of way to pedestrians lawfully in the adjacent cross- walk and to other traffic lawfully using the intersection." Section 2. That vehicular traffic proceeding eastbound or westbound on McLean Boulevard is hereby permitted to make a right turn at Larkin Avenue --after a full stop at a red signal. The City Traffic Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to install appropriate traffic control signs. Section 3. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed. Section 4. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and--after its passage as provided by law and shall be published in pamphlet form- by- order-of-the City Council. s/ W.
