HomeMy WebLinkAboutG-1590 Ordinance No. G-1590 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 17 OF THE CITY CODE OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS ENTITLED TRAFFIC CONTROL ORDINANCE RELATING TO METERED PARKING AREAS. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS: Section 1. That Article 12 of Chapter 17 of the City Code of Elgin be and the same is hereby amended by adding to the off-street parking facilities described in Subsection 17-204(c) the following: "Lot H - Civic Center Lot J - Prairie - Wellington Streets Lot K - Riverside Deck Lot M - Kimball - Grove Streets Lot R - Douglas - North Streets Lot S - Chicago - Spring Streets" Section 2. That Article 12 of Chapter 17 of the City Code of Elgin be and the same is hereby further amended by adding to the streets and places included in the 30-minute metered parking area under Section 17-1210(a) the following: "Lot H - 8 Parking Spaces Lot M - 9 Parking Spaces" '". Section 3. That Article 12 of Chapter 17 of the City Code of Elgin be and the same is hereby further amended by adding to the streets and places included in the two-hour metered parking areas under Section 17-1212(a) the following: "Lot H - 238 Parking Spaces Lot K - 184 Parking Spaces North Street Court - 9 Parking Spaces" and by deleting the following: "North Street between Brook Street and North Grove Avenue." Section 4. That Article 12 of Chapter 17 of the City Code of Elgin be and the same is hereby further amended by adding the following subsection: "17-1212.1. Metered parking areas - four hours. (a) The following streets and places be and such hereby are declared to be metered parking areas: Lot H - First island south of City Hall - 62 parking spaces. (b) That parking in the foregoing areas shall be and is hereby limited to a period of four (4) hours. (c) The deposit of one (1) nickel shall entitle the person parking his car in the space adjacent to each meter to legal parking for a period of one (1) hour in the fore- going areas. Section 5. That Article 12 of Chapter 17 of the City Code of Elgin be and the same is hereby further amended by adding to the streets and places included in the five-hour metered parking area under Section 17-1213(a) the following: "Lot D - 54 Parking Spaces Lot J - 54 Parking Spaces" and by deleting the following: "North Street, north side between North Grove Avenue and Brook Street and Spring Street and Center Street and between Center Street and Dundee Avenue. Center Street, east side, between North Street and Dexter Avenue." Section 6. That Article 12 of Chapter 17 of the City Code of Elgin be and the same is hereby further amended by adding to the streets and places included in the ten-hour area under Section 17-1214(a) the following: "Lot A - 58 Parking Spaces Lot B - 64 Parking Spaces Lot C - 58 Parking Spaces Lot E - 56 Parking Spaces Lot H - 22 Parking Spaces located as follows: Northwest corner facing Post Office - 7, Northwest corner facing City Hall - 15. Lot M - 101 Parking Spaces Lot R - 30 Parking Spaces Lot K - 22 Parking Spaces. Center Street, east side between North and Dexter, 4 parking spaces. North Street, north side: (a) Between North Grove and Brook - 10 Parking Spaces (b) Between Spring and Center - 2 Parking Spaces (c) Between Center and Dundee - 4 Parking Spaces Highland Avenue Bridge - 30 Parking Spaces." Section 7. That Section 17-1214(c) of Article 12 of Chapter 17 of the City Code of Elgin be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: "(c) Deposit of one (1) nickel shall entitle the person parking his car in the space adjacent to each meter to legal parking for a period of one (1) hour in the foregoing areas. However any such person depositing a total of twenty-five cents (25¢) shall be entitled to park his car in a parking space for a period of ten (10) hours in the following areas: "Lot A Lot B Lot C Lot E Lot M, except for thirty minute parking spaces." Section 8. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance be and are hereby repealed. Section 9. That this ordinance shall be published in pamphlet form by authority of the City Council and shall be effective ten days after publication. W. E.
