Ordinance No . G-1490
AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING ARTICLE I OF CHAPTER 29 OF THE CITY CODE OF ELGIN ,
PERTAINING TO LICENSE FEES FOR PASSENGER VEHICLES .
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN ,
ILLINOIS :
Section 1 . That Section 29- 103 of Chapter 29 of the City
Code of Elgin be amended to provide that there be no annual
license fee for the first passenger vehicle owned and
operated by a Disabled American Veteran , in the following
manner , to-wit:
By adding the following sub-section to Section 29-103 :
" ( aaa) The first passenger vehicle owned and operated
by a Disabled American Veteran . There shall be no
license fee for the first passenger vehicle owned and
operated by a Disabled American Veteran , who is
entitled to Disabled Veteran ' s Registration Plates
from the State of Illinois , pursuant to the provisions
of the Illinois Vehicle Code (Chapter 95 1/2 , Illinois
Revised Statutes ) .
To take advantage of the provisions of this Section ,
the applicant must exhibit proper identification and
documentation from the Illinois Veterans Commission ,
in the same manner as required by the State of Illinois
for a special Disabled Veterans plate , and must execute
an Affidavit at the time of such application to the
effect that he , or she , is the actual owner - operator
of any such vehicle. The exemption from fee shall
only apply to the first vehicle owned and operated
by the applicant . "
Section 2 . That all ordinances or parts thereof in conflict
herewith be , and the same hereby are , repealed and of no further
force and effect .
Section 3 . That this Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage as provided by law , and shall
be published in pamphlet form by authority of the City Council .
