AN ORDINANCE
ANNEXING CERTAIN TERRITORIES IN SECTIONS 17 AND 18, TOWNSHIP
41 NORTH, RANGE 9, EAST OF THE THIRD PRINCIPAL MERIDIAN,
SITUATED IN HANOVER TOWNSHIP, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS, TO THE
CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS.
WHEREAS, a Petition signed by all of the owners of record and all of
the electors residing on the territories hereinafter described has been filed
with the City Clerk, and
WHEREAS, id territories are not within the corporate limits of any
municipality and/csaontiguous to the City of Elgin, Illinois, and
WHEREAS, said Petition requests the annexation of such territories
to the City of Elgin, Illinois, and contains therein a statement under oath
that all of the owners of record of all land within such territories and all
electors residing thereon have joined in such Petition.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS:
Section 1. That the territories and lands described as follows,
to-wit:
Parts of Sections Seventeen (17) and Eighteen (18), Town-
ship Number Forty One (41) North, Range Nine (9), East of
the Third Principal Meridian, bounded as follows; Beg-
inning at a point in the Elgin road which bears North
Seventy-three and three-fourths (73-3/4) Degrees West,
Eleven (11) chains and Twenty-nine (29) links from a point
on the East line of said Section Eighteen (18), which said
last mentioned point is one (1) chain and thirty (30) links
North of the Southeast corner thereof and running thence
North Sixteen and one-fourth (16-1/4) degrees East, Four.
(4) chains and Forty-six (46) links for a point of beginning
for the premises hereinafter conveyed; thence North Seventy-
three and three-fourths (73-3/4) degrees West along the line
of land conveyed by Jane Smith and Mary E. Smith to David
B. Smith, September 16, 1875, Eight (8) chains and Eighty-
one (81) links, to the East line of the Burritt Tract; thence
along said line North Fourteen (14) and one-fourth (1/4)
degrees East, Fourteen (14) chains and seven (7) links to the
South line of land conveyed December 7, 1878 by Jane Smith
to Mary E. Stewart; thence North Eighty-eight and one-
half (88-1/2) degrees East twenty-one (21) chains and sev-
nenty (70) links; thence South three and one-fourth (3-1/4)
degrees West, twenty (20) chains and ninety-nine (99) links
to a stake; thence North Seventy-three and three-fourths
(73-3/4) degrees West fifteen (15) chains and seventy (70)
links_to the place of beginning, containing Thirty-nine and
Sixty-one one-hundredths (39. 61) acres.
Also part of Section Eighteen (18) aforesaid, bounded as
follows: Beginning at a point in the Elgin road which bears
North Seventy-three and three-fourths (73-3/4) degrees
West,Eleven (11) chains and twenty-nine (29) links from
a point on the East line of said Section Eighteen (18),
which said last mentioned point is one (1) chain and thirty
(30) links North of the South East corner thereof; thence
along the center of said road North Seventy-three and three-
fourths (73-3/4) degrees West Eight (8) chains and Eighty-
one (81) links to the East line of the Burritt Tract; thence
along said line North Fourteen and one-fourth (14-1/4)
degrees East Four (4) chains and Forty-six (46) links;
thence South Seventy-three and three-fourths (73-3/4)
degrees East jaatrailiil ;with'the first described line of
center of the Elgin road Eight (8) chains and eighty-one
(81) links to a stake; thence South sixteen (16) and one-
fourth (1/4) degrees West Four (4) chains and forty-six
(46) links to the place of beginning, containing Three and
Ninety-three One-hundredths (3. 93) acres more or less,
situated in the Town of Hanover, in the County of Cook,
in the State of Illinois.
be and they are hereby annexed to and made a part of the City of Elgin,
Illinois, and that the boundary lines of the City be, and they are hereby,
enlarged and extended to include within the corporate boundaries thereof
the said described territories.
Section 2. That the territories hereinbefore described be, and
they hereby are, included in the R-2 Single Family Residence District
as set forth in the Elgin Zoning Ordinance (Chapter 21 of the City Code
of Elgin, Illinois) as amended.
Section 3. That a certified copy of this ordinance, together with
an accurate map of the said annexed territories be filed with the Re-
corder of Deeds of Cook County, Illinois.
Section 4. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect
upon its passage as provided by law and shall be published in pamphlet
form by authority of the City Council.
