HomeMy WebLinkAboutS-878 Ordinance No. S-878 r SPECIAL ORDINANCE PERMITTING INSTALLATION OF A SIGNBOARD PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE V OF THE CITY CODE. WHEREAS, the City Manager has received a request from Holiday Inn and Willow Lake Estates, both of which are adjacent to the Northwest Tollway on the West side of the Fox River, to erect a signboard East of State Route 31 on Frontage Road, and WHEREAS, the City Council finds: 1. The location of such proposed billboard or signboard is substantially adjacent to State Route 31. 2. That said proposed billboard or signboard is for directional and informational purposes and serves the... public convenience. 3. That the proposed construction of the billboard or signboard will not be detrimental to the public welfare, injurious to other property or improvements, or substan- tially diminish or impair the property values within the surrounding neighborhood. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS: Section 1. That Holiday Inn and Willow Lake Estates be, and they hereby are, given permission to erect a signboard on the South side of Frontage Road East of State Route 31, at the North entrance tx Judson College subject to the following express conditions, to-wit: (a) Said signboard shall be no more than 10 x 24 feet in size and shall consist of a V-shaped construction (two faces), illuminated with fluorscent light. (b) That said signboard shall provide directional and other information relating to Holiday Inn and Willow Lake Estates. (c) That said signboard shall be constructed and main- tained in strict accordance with plans and specifications heretofore submitted and filed in the office of Engineering and Inspection of the City of Elgin. Section 2. Nothing contained in this ordinance shall be construed to grant a vested right to maintain and erect a signboard at the proposed location,and the City Council reserves the right to revoke said permission at any time that it deems such revocation is in the public 4111, interests. Section 3. That all ordinances or parts thereof in conflict here- with be, and the same hereby are, revoked and of no further force and effect. Section 4. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage as provided by law and shall be published in pamphlet form by authority of the City Council. E. C.
