AN ORDINANCE
ANNEXING CERTAIN TERRITORIES IN PART OF SECTION 11, TOWN-
SHIP 41 NORTH, RANGE 8 EAST OF THE THIRD PRINCIPAL MERIDIAN
SITUATED IN ELGIN TOWNSHIP, KANE COUNTY, ILLINOIS. TO THE
CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS.
WHEREAS, a petition signed by all of the owners of record and all
of the electors residing on the territories hereinafter described has been
filed with the City Clerk, and
WHEREAS, said territories are not within the corporate limits of
any municipality and are contiguous to the City of.Elgin; Illinois, . and
WHEREAS, said petition requests the annexation of such territories
to the City of Elgin and contains therein a statement under oath that all
of the owners of record and all of the electors residing on the land within
such territories have joined in such petition, and
WHEREAS, a portion of said property hereinafter described as
Parcel One is presently zoned B-1 District Business and B-3 District
Business under the existing zoning ordinance of Kane County, Illinois,
and the property hereinafter described as Parcel Two is presently zoned
F-Farming District under said zoning ordinance of Kane County, Illinois,
but is improved with a two family dwelling which is a permitted use under
the Kane County Zoning Ordinance, and
WHEREAS, said petition requests that said Parcel One, if annexed
to the City of Elgin, be zoned in a business classification consistent with
the zoning ordinance of the County of Kane and that the property described
as Parcel Two be annexed to the City of Elgin and zoned as R-3 Two
Family District under the Elgin Zoning Ordinance to comply with the ex-
isting County zoning, and
WHEREAS, the City Council concurs that said property should be
annexed to the City of Elgin, zoned consistently with the existing County
zoning and uses thereon.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT. ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS:
Section 1. That the territories and lands described as follows, to-wit:
That part of Sadler's Addition , being a subdivision of part
of Section 11, Township 41 North, Range 8, East of the
Third Principal Meridian, described as follows: Beginning
at the Northwest corner of Block 9 of said Sadler's Addition;
thence Westerly along the South line extended Westerly of
Jerusha Avenue and along said South line, a distance of 198. 0
feet to the Northwest corner of Lot 1 in Block 10 of said
Sadler's Addition ; thence Southerly along the West line
of said 'Lot i in :Bloick 10, a distance of 7. 0 feet; thence
Westerly along the South line of Jerusha Avenue, and
along the South line extended Westerly, a distance of 227
feet more or less to the Westerly line of State Street;
thence Northerly along said Westerly line, a distance of
150 feet more or less to an angle in said Westerly line;
thence Northerly along said Westerly line, a distance of
250 feet more or less to the North line extended Westerly
of Belle Avenue; thence E asterly along said North line
extended Westerly and along said North line, a distance
of 344 feet more or less to the Southeast corner of Block
3 of Sadler's Addition; thence Northerly along the West
line of vacated Steel Street, a distance of 132. 0 feet;
thence Easterly, a distance of 66. 0 feet to the Southwest
corner of Lot 9 in Block 2 of said Sadler's Addition;
thence Northerly along the East line of vacated Steel
Street and along said East line extended Northerly, a
distance of 198. 0 feet to the North line of Adelaide Ave-
nue; thence Easterly along said North line, a distance of
132. 0 feet to the East line extended Northerly of Lot 8
in said Block 2; thence Southerly along said East line
extended Northerly, along said East line, along the
East line of Lot 11 in said Block 2 and along the East line
extended Southerly of said Lot 11, a distance of 396. 0
feet to the North line of Belle Avenue; thence Westerly
along said North line, a distance of 132. 0 feet to the
East line of vacated Steel Street; thence Southerly
along said East line and along said East line extended
Southerly, a distance of 330. 0 feet to the place of
beginning. Being situated in Elgin Township, Kane
County, Illinois.
be and they are hereby annexed to and made a part of the City of Elgin,
Illinois, and that the boundary lines of the City of Elgin be and they are
hereby enlarged and extended to include within the corporate boundaries
thereof the said described territories.
Section 2. That that portion of the territory described as follows;
to-wit:
Parcel One:
Lots 1, 2, 3 and 4 and Lot 5 (except that part lying
Westerly of a line drawn from a point in the North
line of said lot, 35 feet East of the Northwest corner
to a point in the South line of said lot, 42 feet East
of the Southwest corner) and Lots 6, 7 and 8 (except
the Westerly 35 feet) in Block IV of Sadler's Addition
to Elgin, in the Township of Elgin, Kane County,
Illinois, and that portion of vacated Steel Street ad-
joining the Easterly boundary line of said Lots 1, 2, 3

and 4 described as follows: Commencing at the South-
east corner of said Lot 4, running thence Easterly to the
Southwest corner of Lot 10 in Block 5 of Sadler's Addi-
tion to Elgin; thence Northerly along the Westerly border
line of Lots 10 and 9 in said Block 5 to the Northwest
corner of said Lot 9; thence Westerly along the Southerly
line of Belle Avenue to the Northeast corner of Lot 1
of said Lot 1 in Block 4; thence Southerly along the
Easterly line of said Lots 1, 2, 3 and 4 to the point of
beginning, in the Township of Elgin, Kane County, Illinois.
be and it hereby is included in the B.3 Service Business District as set
forth in the Elgin Zoning Ordinance (Chapter 21 of the City Code bf Elgin,
Illinois) as amended.
Section 3. That the territory described as follows, to-wit:
Parcel Two:
Lots 10 and 11 in Block 2 of Sadler's Addition to Elgin,
in the Township of Elgin, Kane County, Illinois, and that
portion of vacated Steel Street adjoining the Westerly
border of said Lot 10 described as follows: Commencing
at the Southwest corner of said Lot 10; thence Westerly
along the Northerly line of Belle Avenue to the South-
east corner of Lot 4 in Block 3 of said Sadler's Addition;
risk thence Northerly along the Easterly line of Lot 4 and Lot
3 in said Block 3 to the Northeast corner of said Lot 3;
thence Easterly to the Northwest corner of saiiai Lot 10;
thence Southerly along the Westerly line of said Lot 10 to
the place of beginning, in ther ownship of Elgin, Kane
County, Illinois.
be and it hereby is included in the R-3 Two Family Residence District, as
set forth in the Elgin Zoning Ordinance (Chapter 21 of the City Code of
Elgin, Illinois) as amended.
Section 4. That the territory described as follows, to-wit:
Parcel Three:
Lots 8 and 9 in Block 2 of Sadler's Addition to Elgin
in the Township of Elgin, Kane County, Illinois.
be and it hereby is included in the R-2 Single Family Residence District
as set forth in the Elgin Zoning Ordinance (Chapter 214f, the City Code of
Elgin, Illinois) as amended.
Section 5. That a certified copy of this ordinance, together with an
accurate map ofthe said annexed territory, be filed with the Recorder of
Deeds of Kane County, Illinois.
Section 6. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon
its passage as provided by law and shall be published in pamphlet form by
authority of the City Council.
