HomeMy WebLinkAboutS-859 Ordinance No. S-859 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING A MODIFICATION OF THE SIDEWALK ORDINANCE AS IT PERTAINS TO CERTAIN PORTIONS OF HIGH, MILL, JACKSON, PORTER, DEMMOND AND MURRAY STREETS, HILL AND NORTH WESTON AVENUES, AND MANN PLACE, IN THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS. WHEREAS, various petitions have been filed with the City of Elgin requesting authorization for the modification of the Sidewalk Ordinance on various streets in the City of Elgin, Illinois, and WHEREAS, pursuant to authority given by resolution of the City Council, the City Manager has reviewed the individual requests and has recommended, in view of the general terrain of the various areas and the location of existing sidewalks thereon, such modifications are desirable. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS: Section 1. That a curb line sidewalk of approved specifications be, and such hereby are, authorized to be constructed upon and along the following streets in the City of Elgin, Illinois, to-wit: Hill Avenue, on the West side thereof, between Columbia Street and Lincoln Avenue. High Street, on the North side thereof, between Hamilton Avenue and McClure Avenue. Mill Street, on the South side thereof, from Vincent Place to the existing driveway at 855 Mill Street. Mann Place, on the East side thereof, from Jefferson Avenue to the existing driveway at 559 Mann Place. Jackson Street, on the West side thereof, from Lawrence Avenue Northerly to the end of Jackson Street. Porter Street, on the West side thereof, between Lincoln Avenue and Chester Avenue. Demmond Street, on the South side thereof, between North Worth Avenue and North Commonwealth Avenue. Section 2. That a sidewalk of approved specifications be, and such hereby is, authorized to be constructed upon and along the following street in such a manner that the edge nearest the curb line of said street shall lie at a point 3 feet distant thereof, to-wit: 7 0) • North Weston Avenue, on the East side thereof, between Lawrence Street and Oakley Street. Section 3. That a sidewalk of approved specifications be, and such hereby is, authorized to be constructed upon and along the following streets, in such axnanner that the edge nearest the curb line of said streets shall lie at a point 4 feet distant thereof, to-wit: North Weston Avenue, on the West side thereof, between Lawrence Street and Oakley Street. Mann Place, on the West side thereof, between Jefferson Street and Plum Street. Section 4. That a sidewalk of approved specifications be, and such hereby is, authorized to be constructed upon and along the following street, in such a manner that the edge nearest the curb line of said street shall lie at a point 7-1/2 feet distant thereof, to-wit: Murray Street, on the North side thereof, from Mable Street to the existing driveway at 455 Mable Street. Section 5. That a sidewalk of approved specifications be, and such hereby is, authorized to be constructed upon and along the following street, in such a manner that the edge nearest the curb line of said street shall lie at a point 10 feet distant thereof, to-wit: Summit Street, on the North side thereof, between North Liberty Street and Hill Avenue. Section 6. That Ordinance S-769, passed November 12, 1964, be, and the same hereby is, repealed so far as it pertains to modification of the sidewalk ordinance on the South side of Demmond Street, between North Commonwealth Avenue and North Worth Avenue. Section 7. That all ordinances or parts thereof in conflict herewith be repealed and of no further force and effect. Section 8. That this ordinance shall be effective from and after its passage, as provided by law, and shall be published in pamphlet form by authority of the City Council. E. C.
