HomeMy WebLinkAboutS-849 Ordinance No. S-849 AN ORDINANCE VACATING PORTIONS OF NORTH GROVE AVENUE , BROOK STREET, DEXTER STREET, DIVISION STREET, AND A PORTION OF A PUBLIC ALLEY BEING SITUATED IN S. NEWTON DEXTER'S ADDITION AND J.T. GIFFORD' S PLAT OF ELGIN. WHEREAS, the City of Elgin has acquired title pursuant to an Urban Renewal project known as the Central Area Redevelopment Project, Ill. No. R-44, to all of the property adjacent to the portions of the public streets and public alley hereinafter described, and said streets and alley are not main- tained for use as public thoroughfares , and WHEREAS, the public interests will be subserved by the vacation of- the following described portions of public streets and alley in the City of Elgin, to-wit: That part of North Grove Avenue lying Southerly of the South line of North Street as now dedicated and Northerly of the North line of Highland Avenue as now dedicated. ALSO that part of Brook Street lying Southerly of the South line of North Street as now dedicated and Northerly of the Easterly line of Grove Avenue. ALSO that part of Dexter Street lying Westerly of the West line of Douglas Avenue as now dedicated and Easterly of the Easterly line of North Grove Avenue. ALSO that part of Division Street lying Westerly of the West line of Douglas Avenue as now dedicated and Easterly of the Easterly line of North Grove Avenue. ALSO that part of a public alley in Block 6 of S. Newton Dexter's Addition to Elgin, not heretofore vacated by ORDINANCE NUMBER S-547 and S-793 and lying within the right of way of the Chicago and Northwestern Railway. All the above being situated in S. Newton Dexter's Addition and J. T. Gifford's Plat of Elgin, in the City of Elgin, Kane County, Illinois. NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS: Section 1. That the following described portions of certain public streets and a public alley, as platted in S. Newton Dexter's Addition and J. T. Gifford's Plat of Elgin, in the City of Elgin, Kane County, Illinois , to-wit: That part of North Grove Avenue lying Southerly of the South line of North Street as now dedicated andNortherly of the North line of Highland Avenue as now dedicated ALSO that part of Brook Street lying Southerly of the South line of 7rn✓ North Street as now dedicated and Northerly of the Easterly line of Grove Avenue. ALSO that part of Dexter Street lying Westerly of the West line of Douglas Avenue as now dedicated and Easterly of the Easterly line of North Grove Avenue. ALSO that part of Division Street lying Westerly of the West line of Douglas Avenue as now dedicated and Easterly of the Easterly line of North Grove Avenue. ALSO that part of a public alley in Block 6 of S. Newton Dexter's Addition to Elgin, not heretofore vacated by ORDINANCE NUMBER Sr547 and S-793 and lying within the right of way of the Chicago and Northwestern Railway. All of the above being situated in S. Newton Dexter's Addition arid,J T. Gifford's Plat of Elgin, in the City of Elgin, Kane County, Illinois . be, and the same hereby are, vacated for public alley and street purposes. Section 2. That a certified copy of this ordinance, together with a plat of the portions of said streets and alley vacated, be filed with the Recorder of Deeds of Kane County, Illinois . Section 3. That this ordinance shall be effective from and after its passage, as provided by law, and shall be published in pamphlet form by authority of the City Council. Clyde L.
