AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING A MODIFICATION OF THE SIDEWALK ORDINANCE AS IT PER-
TAINS TO CERTAIN PORTIONS OF HASTINGS, ADAMS, WASHBURN, MAR-
GUERITE, MORGAN, JAY AND SCHILLER STREETS AND PRESTON, NORTH
ALFRED AND DIXON AVENUES AND STELLA COURT, IN THE CITY OF ELGIN,
ILLINOIS.
WHEREAS, various petitions have been filed with the City of Elgin re-
questing authorization for the modification of the Sidewalk Ordinance on various
streets in the City of Elgin, Illinois, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to authority given by resolution of the City Council,
the City Manager has reviewed the individual requests and has recommended,
in view of the general terrain of the various areas and the location of existing
sidewalks thereon, such modifications are desirable.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS:
Section 1. That a curb line sidewalk of approved specifications be,
and such hereby is, authorized to be constructed upon and along the following
streets in the City of Elgin, Illinois, to-wit:
Preston Avenue, on the East side thereof, between Slade Avenue
and Chester Avenue.
Stella Court, on the North side thereof.
North Alfred Avenue, on the East side thereof, between Larkin
Avenue and West Highland Avenue.
Hastings Street, on the South side thereof, between Illinois
Avenue and South Liberty Street.
Adams Street, on the North side thereof, between Marguerite
Street and Wilcox Avenue.
Washburn Street, on the South side thereof, between Marguerite
Street and South Commonwealth Avenue.
Marguerite Street, on the East side thereof, between Morgan
Street and Orange Street.
Morgan Street, on the North side thereof from Marguerite Street
elk Easterly to the West line of the existing driveway at 842 Morgan Street.
Section 2. That a sidewalk of approved specifications be, and such

hereby is, authorized to be constructed upon and along the following streets
in such a manner that the edge nearest the curb line of the respective streets
shall lie at a point three feet distance thereof, to-wit:
Jay Street, on the South side thereof, from Harrison Street
Easterly to the end of Jay Street.
Schiller Street, on the South side thereof, between McClure Avenue
and Clark Street.
Section 3. That a sidewalk of approved specifications be, and such
hereby is, authorized to be constructed upon and along the North side of Dixon
Avenue, between St. Charles Street and Elizabeth Street, in such a manner
that the Southerly edge of said sidewalk shall lie at a point nine feet distance
from the curb line of said Dixon Avenue.
Section 4. That all ordinances or parts thereof, in,conflict herewith,
be repealed and of no further force and effect.
Section 5. That this ordinance shall be effective from and after its
passage, as provided by law, and shall be published in pamphlet form by
authority of the City Council.
