HomeMy WebLinkAboutS-794 Ordinance No. S-794 AN ORDINANCE VACATING A PORTION OF A PUBLIC ALLEY AS PLATTED IN BLOCK 7 OF PART OF S. NEWTON DEXTER'S ADDITION TO ELGIN AND IN ENO AND JACKMAN'S ADDITION TO ELGIN, IN THE CITY OF ELGIN, KANE COUNTY, ILLINOIS, WHEREAS, the City of Elgin has acquired title, pursuant to an Urban Renewal Project known as the Central Area Redevelopment Project, to the property adjacent to the public alley hereinafter described and said alley is not maintained or used as a public thoroughfare, and WHEREAS, the public interests will be subserved by the vacation of the following described public alley, to-wit: That portion of a public alley as platted in Block 7 of S. Newton Dexter's Addition to Elgin and in Eno and Jackman's Addition to Elgin, lying Easterly of the Easterly line of North Grove Avenue and lying Westerly of the Westerly line of Brook Street; also that portion of a public alley as platted in Eno and Jackman's Addition to Elgin lying Southerly of the Southerly line of North Street and lying Northerly of the Northerly line of the above described alley, being situated in the City of Elgin, Kane County, Illinois. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS: Section 1. That the following described portion of a certain public alley as platted and located in Block 7 of S. Newton Dexter's Addition to Elgin and in Eno and Jackman's Addition to Elgin, in the City of Elgin, Kane County, Illinois, to-wit: That portion of a public alley as platted in Block 7 of S. Newton Dexter's Addition to Elgin and in Eno and Jackman's Addition to Elgin, lying Easterly of the Easterly line of North Grove Avenue and lying Westerly of the Westerly line of Brook Street; also that portion of a public alley as platted in Eno and Jackman 's Addition to Elgin lying Southerly of the Southerly line of North Street and. lying Northerly of the Northerly line of the above described alley, being situated in the City of Elgin, Kane County, Illinois, be, and the same hereby is, vacated for public alley and street purposes. r 7d Section 2. That a certified copy of this ordinance, together with a - plat of the portion of said public alley vacated, be filed with the Recorder of Deeds of Kane County, Illinois. Section 3.
