O rdinance No. S-787
AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING A MODIFICATION OF THE SIDEWALK ORDINANCE AS IT
PERTAINS TO CERTAIN PORTIONS OF HASTINGS, CARR, DWIGHT, HEALY
AND SOUTH UNION STREETS AND NORTH MELROSE AND MORTON AVENUES
AND RIVER BLUFF ROAD, IN THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS.
WHEREAS, various petitions have been filed with the City of Elgin re-
questing authorization for the modification of the Sidewalk Ordinance on various
streets in the City of Elgin, Illinois, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to authority given by resolution of the City Council,
the City Manager has reviewed the individual requests and has recommended,
in view of the general terrain of the various areas and the location of existing
sidewalks thereon, such modifications are desirable.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS:
Section I. That a curb line sidewalk of approved specifications be, and
such hereby is, authorized to be constructed upon and along the following
streets in the City of Elgin, Illinois, to-wit:
North Melrose Avenue on both sides thereof, from its intersection
with Lawrence Avenue Northerly to the Northerly boundaries of
the 300 block on said North Melrose Avenue.
River Bluff Road on the South side thereof between Hill Avenue
and Morton Avenue.
Hastings Street on the North side thereof between St. Charles
Street and South Liberty Street.
Carr Street on the South side thereof between Wilcox Avenue
and Mallery Avenue.
Dwight Street on the North side thereof between South Liberty
Street and St. Charles Street.
Hastings Street on the North side thereof between Lavoie Avenue
and Illinois Avenue.
Morton Avenue on the West side thereof between River Bluff Road
and Oakhill Road.

Section 2. That a sidewalk of approved specifications be, and such
hereby is, authorized to be constructed upon and along the North side of River
Bluff Road between Morton Avenue and Hill Avenue, in such a manner that the
Southerly edge of said sidewalk shall lie at a point three feet distant from the
curbline of said River Bluff Road.
Section 3. That a sidewalk of approved specifications be, and such
hereby is, authorized to be constructed upon and along the East side of Healy
Street between Villa Street and Barrett Street, in such a manner that the West-
erly edge of said sidewalk shall lie at a point five feet distance from the curb-
line of said Healy Street.
Section 4. That a sidewalk of approved specifications be, and such
hereby is, authorized to be constructed upon and along the East side of Union
Street between Van Street and Shuler Street, in such a manner that the West-
erly edge of said sidewalk shall lie at a point seven feet distance from the
curbline of said Union Street.
Section 5. That all ordinances or parts thereof in conflict herewith
be repealed and of no further force and effect.
Section 6. That this ordinance shall be effective from and after its
passage, as provided by law, and shall be published in pamphlet form by

Supplemental Resolution Adopted Prohibiting Discimination in
Urban Renewal Area in Accordance with Civil Ri:hts Act of 1964
Councilman Wilson made a motion, seconded by Councilman Santanni, to adopt a
supplemental resolution pertaining to urban renewal projects, assuring the
Federal Government that the City of Elgin will comply with regulations and

requirements prohibiting discrimination. Yeas: Councilmen Alft, Santanni,
Wilson, and Mayor Shales. Nays: None.
