AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING A MODIFICATION OF THE SIDEWALK ORDINANCE AS IT PERTAINS TO CERTAIN
PORTIONS OF SHULER, CONGRESS, HILL, CARR, ILLINOIS, CLEVELAND, BENT, AND ERIE
STREETS, IN THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS.
WHEREAS, various petitions have been filed with the City of Elgin re-
questing authorization for a modification of the sidewalk ordinance on various
streets in the City of Elgin, Illinois, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to authority given by resolution of the City Council,
the City Manager has reviewed the individual requests and has recommended, in
view of the general terrain of the various areas, and the location of existing
sidewalks thereon, that such modifications are desirable.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN,
ILLINOIS:
Section 1. That a curb-line sidewalk of approved specifications be, and
such hereby is, authorized to be constructed upon and along the following
streets in the City of Elgin, Illinois, to-wit:
Shuler Street, on both sides thereof, from South Edison Avenue to
South Alfred Avenue.
Congress Street, on the North side thereof, from Illinois Avenue
west to the dead end of the street.
Hill Street, on both sides thereof, from Riverbluff Road east to the
dead end of the street.
Carr Street, on the south side thereof, from South Commonwealth Avenue
to South Worth Avenue.
Illinois Avenue, on the east side thereof, from Villa Street to
Laurel Street
Cleveland Avenue, on the west side thereof, from the property known
as 534 Cleveland Avenue north to Bent Street.
Bent Street, on the south side thereof, for the property known as
502 Cleveland Avenue only.
Erie Street, on the north side thereof, from South Commonwealth Avenue
to Mallery Avenue
Section 2. That a sidewalk of approved specifications be, and such
hereby is, authorized to be constructed upon and along the north side of Erie
Street, between McLean Boulevard and South Weston Avenue, in such a manner so
that the southerly edge of said sidewalk shall lie at a point three (3) feet
distant from the curbline of said Erie Street.
Section 3. That all ordinances or parts thereof in conflict herewith
be, and the same hereby are, repealed and of no further force and effect.
Section 4. That this ordinace shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage, as provided by law, and shall be published in pamphlet
form by authority of the City Council.
