AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING A MODIFICATION OF THE SIDEWALK ORDINANCE AS IT
PERTAINS TO CERTAIN PORTIONS OF BUCKEYE, MARGUERITE, UNION,
VAN, ADAMS, WASHBURN AND ORANGE STREETS, SOUSTER, SHSERWOOD,
NORTH COMMONWEALTH, SOUTH CLIFTON AND SOUTH MELROSE AVEN-
UES AND MORGAN DRIVE, IN THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS.
WHEREAS, various petitions have been filed with the City of Elgin re-
questing authorization for a modif ication of the sidewalk ordinance on various
streets in the City of Elgin, Illinois, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to authority given by resolution of the City
Council, the City Manager has reviewed the individual requests and has re-
commended, in view of the general terrain of the various areas, and the lo-
cation of existing sidewalks thereon, that such modifications are desirable.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS:
Section 1, That a curb-line sidewalk of approved specifications be,
and such hereby is, authorized to be constructed upon and along the following
streets in the City of Elgin, Illinois, to-wit:
Union Street on the East side thereof between West Chicago
Street and Van Street.
Van Street, on the North side thereof, between Union Street
and Sheridan Street.
Adams Street, on the North side thereof, between Marguerite
Street and South Commonwealth Avenue.
Souster Avenue, on the North side thereof, between Ryerson
Avenue and Hendee Street,
Morgan Drive, on both sides thereof, between Miller Drive
and Melrose Court.
Washburn Street on the South side thereof, between Wilcox
Avenue and Marguerite Street.
Sherwood Avenue on the East side thereof, between River Bluff
Road and Coleman Elementary School property.
Section 2. That a sidewalk of approved specifications be, and such
hereby is, authorized to be constructed upon and along the South side of Orange
Street, between Marguerite Street and Wilcox Avenue, in such a manner so that
the Northerly edge of said sidewalk shall lie at a point two (2) feet distance from
the curbline of said Orange Street.

Section 3. That a sidewalk of approved specifications be, and such
hereby is, authorized to be constructed upon and along the following list of
streets in such a manner that the edge of the sidewalk nearest the curbline
of the respective streets shall lie at a point three (3) feet distant thereof,
to-wit:
North Commonwealth Avenue, on the East side thereof, along the
real estate known and described as 499 North Commonwealth
Avenue.
Marguerite Street on the East side thereof, between Washburn
Street and Oak Street.
South Clifton Avenue, on both sides thereof, between Lillian
Street and South Street.
Section 4. That a sidewalk of approved specifications be, and such
hereby is, authorized to be constructed upon and along the West side of South
Melrose Avenue between Erie Street and Meyer Street, in such a manner
that the Easterly edge of said sidewalk shall lie at a point four (4) feet dis-
tant from the curbline of said South Melrose Avenue.
Section 5. That a sidewalk of approved specifications be, and such
hereby is, authorized to be constructed upon and along the South side of Buckeye
Street between McClure Avenue and Crystal Street in such a manner that the
Northerly edge of said sidewalk shall lie at a point eight and one-half (8 1/2)
feet distant from the curbline of said Buckeye Street.
Section 6. That all ordinances or parts thereof in conflict herewith be,
and the same hereby are, repealed and of no further force and effect.
Section 7. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage, as provided by law, and shall be published in pamphlet
form by authority of the City Council.
