AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING A MODIFICATION OF THE SIDEWALK ORDINANCE AS
IT PERTAINS TO CERTAIN PORTIONS OF HAMMOND, DIXON, LAVOIE,
LAWRENCE AND CLIFTON AVENUES AND SHERIDAN, HIGH, SHULER
AND ADAMS STREETS IN THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS.
WHEREAS, various petitions have been filed with the City Council
requesting authorization for the modification of the Sidewalk Ordinance on
various streets in the City of Elgin, Illinois, and
WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed the individual requests
and in the considered opinion of the Council, in view of the general terrain
of the various areas and the location of existing sidewalks thereon, such
modifications are desirable.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS:
Section 1. That a curb line sidewalk of approved specifications be,
and such hereby is, authorized to be constructed upon and along the follow-
ing streets in the City of Elgin, Illinois, to-wit:
filvk Hammond Avenue on the North side thereof between Liberty
Street and Cookane Avenue.
Sheridan Street on both sides thereof between Van Street and
Shuler Street.
Dixon Avenue on the North side thereof between Liberty
Street and Illinois Avenue.
Lavoie Avenue on theWest side thereof between Jay Street
and Hastings Street.
Lawrence Avenue on the South side thereof between North
Melrose Street and North Mclres-e Avenue.
High Street on the North side thereof between North Common-
wealth Avenue and North Worth Avenue.
North Clifton Avenue on the West side thereof along the lot
known as 200 North Clifton Avenue.
Morgan Street on the South side thereof from the Westerly
line extended Southerly of the lot known as 603 Morgan Street
to Gertrude Street.

High Street on the South side thereof along the lot known as
871 High Street.
Adams Street on the South side thereof between Marguerite
Street and South Commonwealth Avenue.
Section 2. That a sidewalk of approved specifications be, and
such hereby is, authorized to be constructed upon, and along, the South
side of Shuler Street between South Alfred Street and South Aldine Street
in such a manner that the Northerly edge of said sidewalk shall lie at a
point three feet distance from the curb line of said Shuler Street.
Section 3. That a sidewalk of approved specifications be, and
such hereby is, authorized to be constructed upon and along the North
side of Adams Street between Gertrude Street and Lindbergh Ct. in such
a manner that the Southerly edge of said sidewalk shall lie at a point four
feet distance from the curb line of said Adams Street.
Section 4. That a sidewalk of approved specifications be, and
such hereby is, authorized to be constructed upon, and along, the South
side of Lawrence Avenue, between North Worth Avenue and Wing Park
Boulevard in such a manner so that the Northerly edge of said sidewalk
shall lie at a point eleven feet distance from the curb line of the said
Lawrence Avenue.
Section 5. That all ordinances or parts thereof in conflict here-
with be repealed and of no further force and effect.
Section 6. That this ordinance shall be effective from and after
its passage as provided by law and shall be published in pamphlet form by
authority of the City Council.
