RESOLUTION
AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF A CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 WITH RIDDIFORD
ROOFING COMPANY FOR HEMMENS CULTURAL CENTER ROOF REPLACEMENT
(Bid No. 25-047)
WHEREAS, the City of Elgin has heretofore entered into a contract with Riddiford
Roofing Company for Hemmens Cultural Center roof replacement(Bid No. 25-047); and
WHEREAS, it is necessary and desirable to modify the terms of the contract as is described
in Change Order No. 1 attached hereto.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ELGIN, ILLINOIS,that Richard G.Kozal,City Manager,be and is hereby authorized and directed
to execute Change Order No. 1, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof by
reference.

PROJECT: Heromens Cultural Center Roof Replacement—Bid 25-047
CHANGE ORDER NO. 1
CONTRACT: Hemmens Cultural Center Roof Replacement—Bid 25-047
SCOPE: Provide for the application of foam adhesive and the attachment of new fascia cleats to
resolve unforeseen circumstances not known prior to the original scope of work.
REASONS FOR CHANGE: Unforeseen field conditions and facility conflicts were encountered
during the construction phase that differed from the original project assumptions and contract
documents. These conditions required revisions to the construction approach, including
adjustments to the application of foam adhesive for the insulation as well as mechanically attaching
new fascia cleats.The proposed change order reflects necessary scope modifications necessary for
the additional work to complete the project in compliance with applicable standards.
The circumstances necessitating this change in performance were not reasonably foreseeable at
the time the contract was signed;the proposed change order is germane to the original contract as
signed; and the change order is in the best interests of the City of Elgin as authorized by law.
SUMMARY OF CHANGES IN CONTRACT AMOUNT:
ORIGINAL CONTRACT AMOUNT: $352,135.00
CHANGE ORDER NO.
Additional adhesive and fascia cleats ADD $31,194.00
TOTAL REVISED CONTRACT AMOUNT: $383,329.00
The original amount of the contract with Riddiford Roofing Company is $352,135.00. Change
Order No. I will increase the original contract amount by a total of $31,194.00, that sum
representing 8.84% percent of the original contract amount. The new contract amount, inclusive
of all change orders, is$383,329.00.
OTHER CONTRACT PROVISIONS: All other contract provisions remain the same.
