RESOLUTION
ACCEPTING FOR MAINTENANCE THE UNDERGROUND AND SURFACE
IMPROVEMENTS IN OAKWOOD HILLS SUBDIVISION - UNIT 3
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN,
ILLINOIS, that the City of Elgin hereby accepts for maintenance
the underground and surface improvements in the right-of-way of
Woodview Circle and Varsity Drive, which include storm sewer,
streets, sidewalks and lights; and all sanitary sewer main and
water main in Oakwood Hills Subdivision - Unit 3 and Varsity
Drive.

SUBJECT: Oakwood Hills Subdivision - Unit 3 and Varsity Drive
PURPOSE
The purpose of the memorandum is to provide the Mayor and
members of the City Council with information to consider the
acceptance of all public improvements in the Oakwood Hills
Subdivision - Unit 3 and Varsity Drive .
BACKGROUND
The developer of the Oakwood Hills Subdivision - Unit 3 has
completed all surface improvements and underground utilities
and is requesting the City of Elgin accept them for ownership
rob, and maintenance . The development consists of 22 buildings
containing 68 single family townhomes located south of
Illinois Route 19 and west of Woodview Circle . The developer
has also completed all surface improvements on Varsity Drive
from Woodview Circle, south of Maroon Drive .
Upon receipt of this request, the City' s Public Works staff
scheduled inspections to verify that all improvements were
constructed in accordance with the approved subdivision
engineering plans . These inspections are now complete and no
outstanding deficiencies exist. Acceptance of the subject
improvements in Unit 3 will add approximately 2, 400 feet of
water main, 3, 350 feet of sewer and 0 . 3 miles of streets to
the City- maintained facilities . Acceptance of the subject
improvements in Varsity Drive will add approximately 1, 100
lineal feet of 12-inch water main; 375 lineal feet of 8-inch
diameter sanitary sewer; 380 lineal feet of 36-inch storm
sewer; and 0 . 2 miles of streets to the City maintained
facilities .

\, FINANCIAL IMPACT
There are no direct immediate costs associated with this
acceptance. However, maintenance and operating costs will
increase over time and will be budgeted for as part of the
annual budgeting process .

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council accept all the public
improvements within the Oakwood Hills Subdivision - Unit 3 and
Varsity Drive and direct the staff to prepare the necessary
resolution.
