RESOLUTION
ACCEPTING A PLAT OF DEDICATION FOR A PUBLIC STREET
(Center Street and Slade Avenue)
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN,
ILLINOIS, that it hereby accepts a certain plat of dedication
for a public street prepared by John T. Burnidge and
Associates, Inc. , an Illinois Land Surveyor, and dated
March 18, 1996 for the property legally described as follows :
That part of Lots 1 and 2 in Block 3 of Grote
and Waldron' s Second Addition, being a subdivision
of part of the Northwest Quarter of Section 12,
Township 41 North Range 8 East of the Third
Principal Meridian, described as follows : Beginning
at a point on the West line of said Lot 2 that is
79 . 00 feet South, as measured along the West line of
said Lots 1 and 2 , of the Northwest corner of said
Lot 1; thence North 00 degrees 34 minutes 03 seconds
West, along said West line, a distance of 79 . 00 feet
to the said Northwest corner of Lot 1; thence North
89 degrees 02 minutes 57 seconds East, along the
North line of said Lot 1, a distance of 56 . 00 feet,
thence South 34 degrees 38 minutes 07 seconds West,
a distance of 97 . 14 feet to the point of beginning.
Being situated in the City of Elgin, Kane County,
Illinois and containing 2,211. 95 square feet more or
less .
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be and is
hereby authorized and directed to cause said plat of
dedication to be filed with the Recorder of Deeds of Kane
County, Illinois .

PURPOSE
This memorandum will provide the Mayor and members of the
City Council with information to consider a right-of-way
dedication for Center Street.
BACKGROUND
The Sherman Hospital Master Plan includes upgrading and
improving its parking facilities . Sherman Hospital recently
prepared plans to modify their parking lots south of Slade
Avenue. In conjunction with these plans, and in accordance
with their master plan, Sherman Hospital proposes to reconfig-
ure the intersection of Center Street and Slade Avenue to
match the boulevard conditions north of Slade. The attached
exhibit illustrates the proposed improvements which were
designed as part of the original Slade Avenue project.
The reconfiguration will require the dedication of additional
right-of-way at the southeasterly corner of the Slade/Center
intersection by the Hospital to the city. Sherman Hospital
has prepared the plat of right-of-way dedication.
Representatives of Sherman Hospital will be available to make
a presentation of proposed parking improvements and street
realignment.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
None. Recording costs will be paid by Sherman Hospital .

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council accept the right-of-
way dedication and authorize the City Manager to execute said
documents and return them to Sherman Hospital for recording.
