RESOLUTION
IN SUPPORT OF THE GREAT AMERICAN MAIN STREET AWARDS ENTRY
WHEREAS, the economic health and cultural growth of the
downtown Elgin area is essential to the economic and cultural
growth and welfare of the City of Elgin; and
WHEREAS, the City of Elgin has supported, and continues
to support, such economic and cultural growth by every
available means, as demonstrated by its facade improvement
program, major improvements to infrastructure, location of
governmental offices in the downtown area, participation in an
interest subsidy program and creation of a downtown
development corporation; and
WHEREAS, the City of Elgin has determined that the best
interests of its citizens are greatly served by downtown
revitalization.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS, that the City of Elgin fully supports
its entry into the Great American Main Street Awards
competition.
