RESOLUTION
APPROVING PAYOUT FROM THE OLD MAIN RESTORATION ESCROW ACCOUNT
WHEREAS, the City of Elgin is the owner of certain real
property upon which is a structure commonly known as Old Main;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Elgin and the Elgin Historical
Society have entered into an agreement wherein Old Main is to
be renovated and occupied by the Historical Society as a
historical museum; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to said agreement the plans and
contract documents of such renovation are subject to the prior
approval of the City of Elgin; and
WHEREAS, on March 22, 1989 the City of Elgin, the Elgin
Area Historical Society and the First National Bank of Elgin
(escrowee) entered into an escrow agreement which established
the Old Main Restoration Account and authorized the escrowee
to make payments from said account on the written direction of
the City of Elgin and the Historical Society; and
WHEREAS, renovation work has been continuing and
application has now been made for the payment of $204 . 60 from
the escrow account.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS, that the First National Bank of Elgin
is authorized and directed to release funds from the Old Main
Restoration Account in the following amount to the following
supplier:
Jack' s Plumbing $ 204 . 60
per the written direction of the Elgin Area Historical Society
dated June 10, 1992, a copy of which is attached hereto and
made a part hereof by reference.

Dear Mayor VanDeVoorde:
I wish to submit my resignation, effective immediately, as
Chairman of the Old Main Commission.
It has been a source of great satisfaction to me to be privileged
to see the Elgin Historical Museum (Old Main) nearing completion.
I am hopeful that the number of Elgin citizens that become aware
of this architecturally unique structure will continue to grow.As
the citizens of Elgin become more and more aware of the various
educational aspects available at the Museum - it can only enhance
the image of Elgin "A City to Watch" .
Thank you for having the confidence in me to be able to carry
through and see the second floor completed and the third floor
done (except for the cosmetic completion) .
I wish to thank also certain members of the City Staff for their
gracious assistance to me when I requested it. They are as
follows :
Mr. Gordon Burkhardt - Inspection Services
Ms. Arlene Kollar - Planning Department
Mr. Frank Kaiser - Maintenance Department
Mr. Richard Hoke - Maintenance Department
I have also enjoyed a very good relationship with those various
city councils and city managers that I have worked with
throughout the years.
Volunteer work is something I will do all my life. I am happy
that I could serve Elgin in various capacities during my eighteen
years here.
