RESOLUTION
APPROVING CHANGE ORDER NO. 2 IN THE CONTRACT WITH
PYRAMID CONCRETE, INC. FOR RIVER BANK BIKE PATH, PHASE I
WHEREAS, the City of Elgin has heretofore entered into a
contract with Pyramid Concrete, Inc . for River Bank Bike Path,
Phase I ; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary and desirable to modify the
terms of the contract as is described in Change Order No . 2 ,
attached hereto.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS, that Larry L. Rice, City Manager, be
and is hereby authorized and directed to execute Change Order
No. 2 , a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part
hereof by reference.

RIVER BANK BIKE PATH, PHASE I
CHANGE ORDER NO. 2
SCOPE: This Change Order No. 2 covers additional work
required to complete the bike path in the area of
Phase I .
The contractor for this project is Pyramid Concrete,
Inc . , of Arlington Heights, Illinois .
REASONS FOR CHANGE: This change order is required for the
costs associated with the items necessary to complete the Bike
Path in the area of the Riverside Deck. The Special Excavation
Additional Excavation and Paving to Widen the Path were
necessary to connect the existing path south of the Riverside
Deck into the new path. The Additional Barricade Rental and
Labor on Bumpers were necessary to complete the installation of
the new plastic barrier wall along the Deck to separate the
bicyclists from vehicular traffic.
SUMMARY OF CHANGES IN CONTRACT AMOUNT: The amount of the
contract will be revised as follows:

The present contract with Pyramid Concrete, Inc. is for
$46, 330 . 07 . By reason of this Change Order No. 2, the contract
for River Bank Bike Path Phase I will be increased in the amount
of Three thousand nine hundred and fifty-five and no/100
dollars ( $3, 955 . 00) , the total contract value being Fifty
thousand three hundred twenty-five and 07/100 dollars
($50, 325 . 07 ) .
OTHER CONTRACT PROVISIONS: All other contract provisions shall
remain the same.

MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor and Members of the City Council
FROM: City Manager
SUBJECT: Fox River Bike Path Phase I
Change Order No. 2
PURPOSE: This memorandum wil4 provide the Mayor and Council
with information to consider the approval of Change Order No. 2
for the subject project.
BACKGROUND: The Council awarded the subject contract to
Pyramid Concrete, Inc. on February 13, 1991. As work progressed
on the path in the area of Prairee Street and Riverside Drive it
became obvious that the paths would not have a smooth junction
without some additional work. In addition to this the
installation of the new recycled plastic barrier walls required
some additional time and labor to install that was not
envisioned at the time of Change Order No. 1.
The work on this phase of the project is almost complete and
will be done by November 1, 1991.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: The current contract with Pyramid Concrete,
Inc. is in the amount of $46,330. 07 . Change Order No. 2 is in
the amount of $3,955 .00. Therefore the revised contract amount
will be $50,325 . 07 .
There are sufficient funds in the Parks Departments capital
budget for this work.
RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the Mayor and City
Council authorize the City Manager to execute Change Order No. 2
to the contract for Fox River Bike Path Phase I with Pyramid
Concrete, Inc. in the amount of $3955 . 00.
A copy of the order is attached for your consideration.
