RESOLUTION
APPROVING CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 IN THE CONTRACT WITH
PYRAMID CONCRETE & BLACKTOP FOR THE
ELGIN PEDESTRIAN AND BIKE PATH
WHEREAS, the City of Elgin has heretofore entered into a
contract with Pyramid Concrete & Blacktop for the Elgin
Pedestrian and Bike Path; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary and desirable to modify the
terms of the contract as is described in Change Order No. 1,
attached hereto.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS, that Larry L. Rice, City Manager, be
and is hereby authorized and directed to execute Change Order
No. 1, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part
hereof by reference.

e1 : To install plastic traffic dividers, dividers
and epoxy to be supplied by the City of Elgin .

EXHIBIT A
This phase of the Bike Path was designed without the knowledge
that the existing Riverside Parking Deck has a load limit of 5
tons . The proposed concrete curb has a unit weight of
approximately 10 tons per 10 foot section which would have
drastically overloaded the deck. It was, therefore, necessary
to find a lighter weight barrier for the path. The plastic
barrier wall has a unit weight of 400 pounds per 10 foot section
and was well within the limits of the deck.
