Genera_ Manager QNF:jsj rFCMWT41) ) CITY of cLGII� ENGINEERING DEPT. , • ELGIN, ILLINOIS EAST CHICAGO STREET SIDEWALK CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 SCOPE: This Change Order No . 1 covers the additional concrete work required to complete the proposed sidewalk project with a barrier curb along the property line on the East Chicago Street Sidewalk improvement . The general contractor operating under contract to the City of Elgin is Plote, Inc . of Elgin, Illinois 60120 . REASONS FOR CHANGE: This change order is required in order to complete the proposed improvement during the installation of the new sidewalk along East Chicago Street . Engineering staff noticed that after the project began, the front properties of Pizza Hut, House of Fireplaces and Smith's Oil Well would have a steep drop off from their parking lots to the new sidewalk . Each of these businesses have landscaping along the front parking area and with the sidewalk in place, this landscaping would drop off quickly and may have erosion problems . To prevent this , a twelve inch concrete barrier curb was installed at the property line . This curb also helped in improving the aesthetics and the functionality of the parking lot entrances . SUMMARY OF CHANGES IN CONTRACT AMOUNT: The amount of the contract will be revised as follows : ITEM ADD. Concrete Barrier Curb, Special ; Linear Foot $3 , 000 . 00 150 linear feet @ $20 . 00 Guard Rail Revision; Lump Sum $ 250 . 00 There are also increases in some items in $1 , 642 . 45 the contract quantities which will add the specified amount to the contract . The present contract with Plote, Inc . is for $90 ,629 . 40 . By reason of this Change Order No . 1 , the contract for the East Chicago Street Sidewalk will be increased in the amount of Four Thousand Eight Hundred Ninety-Two and 45/100 Dollars ($4 , 892 . 45) , the total contract value being Ninety-Five Thousand Five Hundred Twenty-One and 85/100 Dollars ($95, 521 . 85) . • - CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 August 17, 1988 Page 2 OTHER CONTRACT PROVISIONS: All other contract provisions shall remain the same, except for minor changes in item quantities .
