OTTER CREEK DETENTION AREA
Change Order No.2
SCOPE. This Change Order No.2 covers the installation of 2 six inch (6 )
valves and 2 eight inch (8") valves with valve boxes, corporation
connections and disinfection of watermains by T&W Edmier
Corporation, 249 West Lake Street, Elmhurst, IL 60126.
REASON FOR CHANGE
The existing watermains on Second and Maple Streets need to be
lowered in order to construct the detention facility.
At the time of designing the project it was felt that the new
watermain could be installed deeper than the present depth and
connections at the two ends could be made in relatively short
time without inconveniencing the residents except for a short
period of time, two to three hours. It was thought that the
new line could be disinfected by chlorine tablets.
Later on it was realized that it would not be possible to make
the end connections in a short length of time. Also the disin-
fection with chlorine tablets without flushing the new lines is
rather risky. There is a possibility that it would be a health
hazard to the residents.
A better, safer and easier construction procedure is to include two
valves on each line, disinfect the watermains, flush them and test
the water before the water from the new watermain is used by the
residents.
SUMMARY OF CHANGES IN CONTRACT AMOUNT. The amount of the contract will be
revised as follows: ADD
Installation of 2 six inch (6") valves, $2,560.00..
2 eight inch (8") valves, corporations
and disinfection of new watermains
By reason of this Change Order No.2, the contract cost for Otter Creek
Detention Area shall be increased in the amount of Two Thousand Five Hundred
Sixty and no/100 Dollars ($2,560.00) , the total contract with T&W Edmier
Corporation being Six Hundred Eighteen Thousand Four Hundred Thirty Six and
88/100 Dollars. ($618,436.88)s.
OTHER CONTRACT PROVISIONS. All other contract provisions shall remain the
same.

MEMORANDUM
TO: Bob Malm, Acting City .Manager
FROM: Syed Ally, Civil Engineer II
RE: Otter Creek Detention Area
Attached is Change Order No.2 for Otter Creek Detention Area. It
consists of the addition of two 6 inch valves with valve boxes, two 8
inch valve with valve boxes, disinfecting the new sections of watermains
on Second and Maple Streets and two corporation connections for flushing
the new mains.
At the time we designed the project, we felt that the installation of
the deeper new mains could be accomplished without the extra valves. After
further consultation with the contractor and Water Department and consider-
ing the risk factor, we feel the need for the additional valves and flushing
the new main before putting it in service. In order to keep the costs down,
valve boxes instead of valve vaults will be installed.
The additional cost is $2,560.00 which brings the total contract amount
with T&W Edmier Corporation to $618,436.88. We request City Council approval .
