This Change Order No.1 shall cover the installation of a temporary gravel ramp and sidewalk along the north side of the Hemmens Auditorium. REASON FOR CHANGE. It was the original intent of the contract to remove existing sidewalk this past fall and replace it in the Spring. Deputy Knust, Bureau of Inspection Services, informed us that there was to be an exposition, Expo 85, at the Hemmens during the weekend of January 25, 26 & 27, 1985. This exposition would require all exits be functional as fire exits because of the expected attendance of 20,000 or more people. The Contractor was instructed to place the gravel ramp as soon as possible on January 22, 1985. The work was completed to the satisfaction of both B. I .S. and this office. CHANGE IN CONTRACT AMOUNT Additional cost for temporary gravel ramp $750.00 By reason of this Change Order No.1 , the contract shall be increased in the amount of Seven Hundred Fifty and No/100 Dollars ($750.00) . OTHER CONTRACT PROVISIONS. All other provisions of the contract shall remain the same. Agreed to this # day of i1,,/'G , 1985. Ridley, Civil Engineer I 1 RE: Hemmens Sidewalks Change Order No. 1 At your request our office has looked into the above referenced Change Order No. 1 per our memorandum of February 5, 1985, the extra work at the Hemmens Auditorium was $750.00. The gravel installed on January 24, 1985 has settled six (6) to eight (8) inches. Because of the condition of the subgrade under the existing sidewalk, it is our opinion that we would have been forced to bring in the same type of gravel at a cost of $500.00. The additional $250.00 can be attributed to the weather and the fact that the contractor had to move in equipment to perform the temporary ramp work. The gravel which is now in place will be used by the contractor as a base for the new concrete ramp and sidewalk.
