RESOLUTION
APPROVING CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 IN THE CONTRACT WITH
ILLINOIS HYDRAULIC CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR RYERSON PARK IMPROVEMENTS
WHEREAS, the City of Elgin has heretofore entered into a contract
with Illinois Hydraulic Construction Company for Ryerson Park improve-
ments; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary and desirable to modify the terms of the
contract as is described in Change Order Number 1, attached hereto.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ELGIN, ILLINOIS, that Leo Nelson, City Manager, be and is hereby author-
ized and directed to execute Change Order Number 1, a copy of which is
attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference.

RYERSON PARK IMPROVEMENTS
CHANGE ORDER NO.1
SCOPE. This Change Order No.1 covers additions and modifications to the
above contract as follows:
Item 1 . The contractor shall install a photo electric cell on
an existing light pole to activate the new lighting fixtures.
Item 2. The contractor shall provide 56 each Euonymous Alata
Compacta four (4) feet high to be planted on two (2) foot centers
between the proposed fence and the existing stdewalk.
REASON FOR CHANGE
Item 1. The original lighting fixtures were on timers and a
meter. Commonwealth Edison now has a Rate 25 contract with the
City that covers the use of a photo electric cell that will turn
the lights on at dusk and off at dawn.
Item 2. Public Property and Recreation has requested that an add-
itional row of hedges be added to the new proposed fence. This
extra hedge will act as a screen and help to improve a major approach
to the city (Route 31 from the South).
SUMMARY OF CHANGES IN CONTRACT AMOUNT. The contract amount shall be
revised on the following basis:
Item 1 . Additional cost to install $ 64.35
photo electric cell
Item 2. Additional cost to install 56 2,956.00
each Euonymous Alata Compacta
four (4) feet high to be planted
on two (2) foot centers between
the proposed fence and the exist-
ing sidewalk
Total Addition to the Contract Amount $3,020.35
By reason of this Change Order No.1 , the contract cost shall be
increased in the amount of Three Thousand Twenty and 35/100 Dollars
($3,020.35).
OTHER CONTRACT PROVISIONS. All other provisions of the contract shall
remain the same.

MEMORANDUM
TO: Leo Nelson, City Manager

RE: Ryerson Park Improvements
Change Order No. 1
Change Order No. 1 covers the addition of a photo electric cell to
the lighting system and additional planting material for the Ryerson Park
Improvements.
The original service for the park lighting was by a meter and timer
mounted on a utility pole. To provide a constant service between dusk
and dawn, the addition of the photo electric cell will be added to the
contract. The lighting will then be paid for under a Rate 25 Contract
with Commonwealth Edison.
Public Property and Recreation has requested that an additional
row of hedges be added to the contract. This hedge will act as a screen
and help to improve a major approach to the City (Route 31 from the south) .
The original engineer's estimate to construct this project was
$44,985.00. The contract cost is $35,782.00 which was awarded to Illinois
Hydraulic Construction on July 11, 1983. The two items above will add
$3,020.35 (Photo Electric Cell $64.35, and 56 Evonymous Alata Compactor
$2,956.00) .
We would therefore request that the City Council approve Change Order
No. 1 to the Tyerson Park Improvements (copy attached) .
